Hate the Yankees?

The D'backs won in 2001 as far as I remember?

It is so odd, our true rivals our the Giants and Dodgers.

The Yankee hating is sad.

I will tell you right now that the Yankees nor there fans consider the D'backs as a rivalry.

It makes us look like amatuers.

The teams the D'backs fans should hate are the Giants, Padres and Dodgers.

I am sure that some people here would prefer the R. Johnson ended up one of those three teams instead of the Yankees.

It's not a personal thing, just a baseball thing. Many always hate the top dawg, and that's the Yanks. With all the money they spend, and the arrogance the team tends to have, the hate is only natural.

I don't consider them a rival at all. I consider the Giants, Dodgers, and St. Louis to be our rivals.

Totally agree, when you can go out and get every good free agent on the market, and have a starting 5, ONLY THE STARTING FIVE rotation costing more than the entire budgets of 13 teams, that tells you that something is seriously wrong with a league. The league is happy with NY and Boston winning every year, and unless there are major changes, that's all we'll get. Losing Curt and Randy, and having the best two pitchers get broken up, all because the Yanks and Red Sox have all the money is a bitter pill to swallow. It sucks to be a have not.

I hate the Yankees because I grew up a Red Sox fan. And I found them and their fans and the east coast media extremely arrogant in 2001.

Baseball doesn't need a cap - George just needs to mosey on to buy the Field of Dreams and let a corporation have control of the Yankees again.

KOC - baseball fans hate the Yankees for the same reason most football fans hate the Dallas Cowboys - arrogant winners.

I grew up a 49-er fan and I passionately hated the Cowboys for beating us in NFC championship games in the early 70's. As an Eagles fan now, I hate the Cowboys as a rival (as do all Eagles fans).

I hate the Yankees because I grew up in Boston and it is genetic to hate the Yankees. I also dislike them because of their arrogance and the fact that they buy championships. They spend far too much money and it doesn't make for a competitive league. The fact that they haven't won a WS for thepast several years makes me very happy.

As to our rivelry it has to be SF as they are the only team to challenge us over the past few years.

I grew up a St. Louis Cardinals fan, and have hated them ever since 1957 -- in fact, I briefly became a Milwaukee Braves fan that year because the Braves beat the MFYs in the World Series. I wanted to see more Cardinals games on television to accompany Harry Caray's picturesque radio calls, BUT the only game shown every Saturday on CBS's "Game of the Week" was the Yankees, which made me hate them even worse. The Yankees have long been the Evil Empire to all baseball fans.

The "rivalry" between the Yankees and D'backs is local. And that was born in one shining moment (or so) when we changed the momentum to beat the Yankees in the World Series.

As far as hating them (and Giants), that began for me when I was a ten-year old kid in 1951, and my father (a NY Giant fan) brought me to Game 1 of the NL Playoff. Two games later was Bobby Thomson's "Shot Heard 'Round the World" against the Dodgers.

The following season I had become a red-hot Dodger fan, knowing that the Yankees had beaten them in 3 World Series during the previous decade. Then 2 more in '52 and '53.

What a day it was in '55 when Johnny Podres pitched a 2-hit shutout and Gil Hodges had 2 RBI's in Game 7 of their only World Championship, before heading west three years later.

I've been a Yankee hater for 52 years.

I love what Randy has meant to Phoenix and want to see him go into the Hall as a D'back. But I hope he goes 3-22 next season.

I'll admit I hate the Yankees, but not as much as other teams. I respected the late 90s Yanks because they won due to good decision making and they played the game the right way. The current verison is being run like a rotisserie league team and A-Rod's slap is all I have to say about how they play the game. The Red Sox are just as weak but somehow they get away with it with the national media.

I would jump for joy if the Yanks won ZERO games next year...even that wont happen.

Baseball does have a cap - they just ignore it and pay the tax. 25Mil, 40Mil it don';t matter. They just want the crown.

By the way we'll be paying our FA's and extentions for the next 10 yrs. for our crown. Everyone does it now on different levels.

I've hated the Yankees all my life.

I started hating the Yankees long before the Dbacks were even a concept.

I will always hate the Yankees and enjoy them losing almost as much as watching the Dbacks win.

Here is a Haiku I have written about my hatred for the Yankees.
