Why I Doubt The Cards Draft a RB at #31

Honestly, Shogun, to make this judgement of Hightower after one year, his rookie year no less, is moot, speculative and way too premature. What if Hightower comes back for his sophomore year the way Breaston did? And this time he doesn't have to worry about taking reps and touches away from a future Hall of Famer. And Breaston couldn't even feed off any rookie success as a WR...but 13TDs and clutch 4th down conversions that led to an NFC Championship is quite a bit for a young RB to build on already.
If he does take The Breaston Leap then good for him and we actually have a decent RB, but I've never seen a RB that averaged less than 3YPC amount to anything substantial.

I have never felt that the Cards would take a RB at #31. That just isn't Whisenhunt's style. But I could see them taking one in round 2 if there is someone that they are really high on. It could be Shaun Greene or perhaps Andre Brown. I really look for them to add depth in the draft especially on the defense.

First off, i think the jury is still out on TH. If he can make the adjustment of not dancing and hitting the hole he can be a pretty decent back. You have to think he'll improve with a year under his belt. Secondly, we were among the highest scoring teams in the league with a below average running attack. That's not going to change when you have Warner, Fitz, Q, and Breaston on the field.

To the original post, i agree. The only RB we take is either Wells or Moreno in round 1. BOth will be gone. Another reason we won't take a RB, unlessit's one of those two, is just look at how teams value different positions. Most teams value position chart would look something like:

1-QB
2-LT
3-Pass rusher
4-CB

those are the positions that get paid the most and hardest to find good players at. We're set at QB,LT for next year, and CB. That leaves a pass rusher as the most significant postiion we need to fill.

I agree with what you have to say, but RB and Pass rusher are needs 1a and 1b on this team. We went where we did in the playoffs because we committed to the run more. We need to be more consistant and successful running going forward.

Not a Greene backer, to much like HT. But I believe they'll go OLB first barring some type of major blunder by teams 1-30, but I don't see that. If we're w/i 5 picks of landing one and Philly didn't take one at 21, you might see us jump above their 28 to land one. But again , I'm not holding my breath on that.

Don't see that happening. There are no rbs really worth moving up which means giving up draft choices. We will sit at #31 and most likely take a defensive player and get an rb perhaps at round 2 or 3.

I've been a proponent of moving down some and grabbing x-tra talent. But if Wells or Moreno are in striking distance, I think you have to consider that. I wouldn't give up a 3rd to do it though.
