Simply put I believe with a decent roster and coaching staff, he’ll be a winning QB. Here’s why,

1. Ignore the TD/INT STATS. ROSEN 10-14, Aikman’s first year 9-18
2. One of the worst receiving corps in the NFL. Except for Fitz, nobody came back to the QB when he was was pressured. Rosen scrambled or threw under pressure very often.
3. Tons of drops, tons of sloppy routes, except for Fitz few wins on challenged balls (like jump balls)
4. Rosen showed decent mobility
5. Rosen has excellent arm strength
6. Rosen is smart. He invariably threw the ball out of bounds when scrambling, never running out of bounds behind the line. That shows smarts and composure. This week I watch Darnold scramble out of bounds for a 4 yard loss. Dumb!
7. Weak offensive line left Rosen rarely having a chance to work through his progressions. He also didn’t have time to look off a safety. He did both in college.
8. Rosen had almost no effective running game support. This meant play action wasn’t effective.
9. Coaching was hopeless. No creative play calling, except finally the Fitz pass. Never truly used DJ as a receiver. Logan never used.
10. Essentially no TE safety valve.
11. Signed a FB but hardly ever went max protect or used him as a receiver.
12. Despite taking a beating, Rosen never quit.

I think he has a good chance to be the QBOTF. I sure based on what he had to work with this season, it would be impossible to conclude he lacks the talent to succeed. Stay the course.

Idk about the good decision making. He throws a lot of dumb passes. People ripped Darnold apart at USC for his INT’s but Rosen tossed 10+ picks in college twice. For all the bad luck with receivers dropping balls he could also easily have 18+ picks.

And I’m Team Rosen.

I am waiting for the game to slow down for him. I have not seen him throw a ball on time in weeks. Glennon come in and his first throw was an out route which he delivered before the receiver made his break.

Total QBR of 27.6, good for last in the league. A whole 11.6 points below Ryan Tannehill who is next on the list.

Basically, he and the rest of the team sucks. Want to give him another year with an actual head coach before making a decision on his future.

One of the knocks on him coming out of college was his arrogance. It is still there. When the ego outweighs the "live for another play" mentality, bad shiite can happen. Too many years of waiting for a Cardinal QB to "develop". The management of him seemed awkward at best. Learning under fire has a downside. Don't know whose concept this was, but the result was a disaster. Many a young QB, historically, has had the game beat out of him.

Good stuff Harry, IMO we needed that positive feedback especially with such a negative season (Hmmm almost sound like an oxymoron). Getting the right HC is critical in the development of Rosen. Look what McVay has done with Goff.

He's brave and confident, which is amazing given how much hits he has taken. Never looks rattled, stays tall and calm in the pocket. He is the Anti-Kolb.

His decision making will improve. Remember he is a rookie on a historically bad offense. Fix the OL. Get him another weapon or two.

Thing is - if Harry had anything negative to say...he'd say it.

One caveat - I remain a strong believer in the adage that a QB has to prove he can get the job done before you can praise him for getting the job done.

Crummy support notwithstanding, Rosen will remain an unread book...until he isn't.

Rosen was developing good chemistry with Christian Kirk. It's a pithy he got hurt. We desperately need to get some decent wrs that will build similar chemistry with Rosen in the off season OTAs and training camp.

Lets see:

offensive line that is a made up of personnel more suited to H2 of preseason games.

wide receivers that after Fitz, consist of two undrafted free agents and Chad Williams

TEs consisting of a guy less than 12 months removed from an achilles injury, and, a UDFA from last year.

an offensive coordinator who has never been an offensive coordinator, wasnt even coaching two years ago, and is running someone else's offense

not exactly a recipe for success for a rookie QB

Are you saying that his arrogance/ego has contributed at least in part to some of the pick 6 interceptions and maybe other interceptions/turnovers he has been responsible for thus far?

I believe all the Int Manning and Aikman threw actually helped in the long run....the pro and college game are 2 different worlds.

Peyton Manning threw 28 picks his rookie year. Josh will be fine. Good post, Harry.

Why does it matter how many picks Manning threw or Aikman threw? Rosen isn't Manning. Just leave it with the react Rosen is a rookie and rookies make mistakes.

More importantly people need to stop saying (believing?) Rosen "will be fine". There is no way to know that.

Some valid points but name a WR/TE/RB on the Jets or Bills and those two seem to making progress, especially Darnold. He's going to be a star.

Look at it this way. With Rosen at QB, you can make a ton of money betting against Arizona. But if you like Rosen, go with:
2019-He needs better people around him.
2020-He needs better coaching.
2021-We draft a QBOTF.

It's a concrete example of talented quarterbacks struggling as rookies. That's why it matters.

Maybe, but that was 20 years ago. Can anyone cite an example that looks this bad from this millennium and worked out?

Can you name me a rookie QB who had his OC fired midway through the season, had an Offesive line that was literally guys off the street and has the worst WR core in the NFL.

He's been put in an impossible situation. This is the worst Cardinal team in 30 years. I honestly don't see how anyone can have such a strong opinion on him good or bad.
