What?
Probably been said in the last 100 threads but here is my take.

Denny has not missed on a draft pick yet. Every player he has chosen has moved into a starter position and performed.

Not a bad record.

He needed to go with Fitz or a big time QB during the draft. He chose Fitz and expected at least a certain level of QB play to get by.

McCown won't throw down field and King does so recklessly. Neither have the results we want.

Enter Navarre, Denny's choice of QB. Denny puts him on the PS and works with him all season, the place the QB must have all of his devotion and attention so far. That's not a mistake.

I think Green knew exactly the player he wanted in the draft and was just willing to let the wins come as they will with Mac's player and a back up who he didn't really care about. If Green thought King was the man McCown would have been pulled much sooner. He knew niether was the answer. But the ace in the hole was Navarre. He needed some time and personal coaching to be ready. He got that as Greens personal PS player with one on one coaching.

I'm guessing all of this as an outsider like the rest of you but must say, So far so good on Greens picks. Rounds one through five have been pretty good. Lets dive a little deeper.

Just how much better is Greens talent evaluation than Macs? I think we'll know by halftime Sunday.

Actually I think that question was answered during the first preseason game. Green wins hands down. We just need to see how much better his talent choices perform in the very late rounds. So far Green leads the battle.

Also Denny has been coaching the scout team and their offense practices against our first string defense. So when he said he saw good things from Navarre he might not be lying. What if Denny watches Navarre light up our first string D. I know its not game conditions, but if he sees he can make plays on them, he should be able to on most defenses in the league.

He was never on the Practice Squad he was on the 53 man roster but inactive. He was on the scout team which is the group of guys that try to emulate the opposing Offense as best they can so the Defense can practice against it.

If DG says he can compete then I believe it. He will have to see live game action and I hope his level of accuracy on passes is good. They weren't on short passes at Michigan. I think you are right on with the analysis. This is DG draft pick. He would like nothing better than for this Kid to take the reigns and get the job done.

Navarre was on the "scout team". Isn't that the team that supposed to mimick the upcoming opponent's offense for the benefit of the defense to practice against?

Too bad we didn't play the Colts so Navarre could throw 6 touchdowns against the Lions this week.

:D

i agree az21. I will digress to Green's decisions.

especially this year. Next offseason will be a free for all, we haven't seen anything yet.

next year will be better. The year after that the pressure comes and then...

I guess I won't be able to stand on the bleachers anymore and some ******** will be telling me to shut up because I am interupting his cell phone call.

I think Navarre is starting because . . . WE DON'T HAVE AN NFL QB ON THIS ROSTER. It's really not that difficult to figure out. We have one guy who won't throw the ball down field but has a cannon - another guy who will throw the ball downfield but throws like a girl and another guy that we don't know what he'll do. At this point in the season - you just have to find out what else the other guy can or can not do.

Whats the big mystery about why Navarre is starting? Green is used to having one of the top passing units in the league. Look at the years some quarterbacks had when they were playing for him, Culpepper the last 4, Cunningham in 98, Moon in 94-95, even Jeff George played well. Outside of Shaun Kings 350 yard day, our passing unit has averaged less than 150 yards. If something doesnt work, you change it, you dont go back to something that didnt work out.

Chandler AZ.
A good point in this

is if he goes against a first string D, he may have a hard time slowing things down to make the correct reads. If he can do that, without getting killed(see previous O line comments by everyone), he should be alright.

Actually I think during that weeks paractice they put in Scobey or Croom or one of the WR's in at QB for the scout team. It was in an article but cant find it right now.
