Why hasn`t DWashington been released? He`s lied to the team, the FO and the fans. He`s a mess and why even have any ties to him now?
It`s time to say "thanks for your good football playing but your baggage isn`t worth the trouble".

Because we don't have the 5.5 mill in cap space it would take to cut him.

I think cards know he'll wind up on another NFC West Club and will ride him until he is banned for life.

I am not sure of the suspension's impact on his salary, so I ask, does it matter at this point? Do we still pay him during his suspension? If not, can we use that money on someone else?

If we can't spend elsewhere, then dead money shouldn't be a factor. Not like we'll get any benefit from him this year anyway.

Seems like there has to be a way the Cards can void his contract because of multiple drug and other issues.

Do you really think he can keep his nose clean and not get caught again. It would not surprise me to see him get a lifetime ban by getting caught during his suspension.Plus he still has the other legal issues. It`s time to cut ties with him.

Because if we cut him, we don't have time to request for part/all of his $10 million bonus back. Certain procedures have to be followed to protect the organization, recoup funds, and determine whether or not this guy is ever legitimately going to play on an NFL team again.

Because someone else will pick him up. Someone like the 49ers who run a 3-4. And we don't have to pay him while he is suspended. And the cap issues listed above. Even with a year out he is still going to be a premier player when he comes back. Next contract will be on the cheap as well. Stop with the moral nonsense the NFL is about winning.

this isn't about moral nonsense...this IS about winning. Something that DWash continues to hamper us in trying to do by getting suspended. Someone else wants to take a chance on a guy who's gotten nailed for domestic abuse and failed the drug program three times and is one strike away from permanent banishment, more power to them, but a smart franchise doesn't keep depending on that type of idiot to play any role on their team.

Most likely he will get cut. Then he will sign with another team and will perform at a high level.

It'll be a Catch 22. We'll cut him and lose his production to save face, but will also look silly to some if he keeps his nose clean and continues to produce for another team.

You can pretty much guarantee thats what will happen.

Sucks but they almost have no choice at this point.

Urban said in his blog that he doesn't expect him to get cut and that he's still a premiere player and who knows what could happen moving forward. He's usually the mouth of the franchise which scares me a little. I can't see how this team can ever go into a season depending on this schmuck ever again.

He'll keep getting suspended no matter who signs him.

It is nothing but selfishness and not caring about anyone else

Washington is a dope. Doing dope after being suspended once and letting his team down last year, is so selfish and uncaring. I am sure after last year's incident, he apologized to the team, management and players, and asked for forgiveness promising he wouldn't let them down again.

He obviously is a liar, to himself and others. How many chances do you give someone? Well, most families never give up on their children no matter how hopeless they are. The Cards are supposed to be a family. So how do they relate to this? What is fair to all? IF you really want to help him, then you let him go so he see clearly what he needs to do if he wants to have a life in the NFL. IF you are more concerned with losing him after this year and how it affects your chances at a title, then you accept him back in hopes he can give you a couple of clean years.

Personally I feel that if you really care more about him than you do the team, you cut him. Maybe he can relate to tough love. He certainly didn't relate well to the forgive and forget strategy.

There are 10 million reasons why the Cards aren't cutting Daryl Washington, and they got paid last March. If the Cards cut Washington loose, they are unable to endure that cap pain, and designating him a Post-June 1 casualty only makes it more difficult to deal with Fitzgerald's obscene cap number and Palmer's extension in 2015.

Where were all those lickspittles insisting that Washington was a team leader and complaining about Dansby's me-first attitude for the last six to twelve months?

That whole discussion on not picking up Washington's contract and using the money to keep Dansby sounds really good now.

Cap hit notwithstanding, he needs to be cut. Jurecki was saying that there are some players in the locker room who are really pissed at DWash. A team cannot have this irresponsible individual on it.

Yes, he is probably the 2nd best defender on the Cards, yes, he can ball, BUT he cannot be trusted, relied on or believed that he will ever "turn his life around" as he said in his latest "apology".

IMO he needs to be cut immediately and out of the picture permanently.

I am so disgusted with this turn of events.

We can't afford the CAP hit at this point.

And he's on the team in name alone.

He can't hang out at the facilities.

I wouldn't be surprised if he smokes more dope when he's away from the field & if he does I hope he gets caught & they bust his balls again!

I hope the best for the young man, but it looks like he's got a problem & hopefully he gets help for his troubles. I still think he will never wear a Cards uni again though.

I remember reading when he got this contract that it wasn't nearly as nice as comparable LBs out of fear that something like this would happen. I think we send him to rehab and he's a Cardinal in 2015

Washington's contract gets pushed so there isn't really a reason to do this at this point. No need to make a decision now when it will negatively affect you if you can put it off and be better off.

Anyway you cut it, we now have a need at ILB going forward. Not much can be done at this point to improve the situation. Next offseason and the draft are the next best spots to address the situation.
