Why its time to part ways with Larry Fitzgerald.

Only 4 of the top twenty highest paid WR are in the playoffs
Calvin Johnson, Jordie Nelson, Golden Tate and Larry Fitz. Difference is Jordie and Calvin are 2 years younger than fitz. Golden Tate is 5 years younger.

here is the next thing notice the highest paid WR for the patriots and broncos... both don't even really play for the teams but they are also numbers 22 and 25 on the list... so out of 32 teams their highest paid receivers are towards the back end.

Top WR's Contracts
1. Calvin Johnson Lions
2. Larry Fitzgerald Cardinals
3. Percy Harvin Jets
4. Mike Wallace Dolphins
5. Dwayne Bowe Chiefs
6. Vincent Jackson Buccaneers
7. Brandon Marshall Bears
8. Jordy Nelson Packers
9. Andre Johnson Texans
10. Greg Jennings Vikings
11. Victor Cruz Giants
12. Pierre Garcon Redskins
13. Antonio Brown Steelers
14. DeSean Jackson Redskins
15. Mike Williams Bills
16. Marques Colston Saints
17. Steve Johnson 49ers
18. Eric Decker Jets
19. Golden Tate Lions
20. Brian Hartline Dolphins
21. Roddy White Falcons
22. Wes Welker Broncos
23. Anquan Boldin 49ers
24. Reggie Wayne Colts
25. Danny Amendola Patriots

Here is why I say its time to let fitz go... look at this years draft class

Jordan Matthews, Eagles (second round)
Martavis Bryant, Steelers (fourth round)
John Brown, Cardinals (third round)
Allen Robinson, Jaguars (second round)
Allen Hurns, Jaguars (undrafted)
Mike Evans, Buccaneers (1st round)
Kelvin Benjamin, Panthers (1st round)
Sammy Watkins, Bills (1st round)
Brandin Cooks, Saints (1st round)
Odell Beckham Jr, Giants (1st round)

WR'S ARE A DIME A DOZEN these days... its time to part way with fitz and use that money like the great teams do on other positions.

You'll simply have to let Larry walk IF a restructure isn't worked out and the club feels they need that money for other needs.

The problem is you won't be able to trade his contract. Why would anybody take on that burden when they know the only option for the Cardinals is to cut him.

I think Larry might work with the Cards because of the position the team is in right now. One would have to think we ar SB contenders going into next season. That alone might interest Fitz.

I think Fitz will want to force his way out for two reasons: (1) he does not relish his current role within BA's offense and the lack of targets he gets with Carson Palmer at QB (not to mention the wear and tear his role has taken on his body); (2) given the chance to play with one of the more elite QBs and championship-caliber programs in the NFL (even at a drastically reduced salary) is going to be too hard to pass up this time around at this point in his career.

Somehow it seems sad to think Fitz won't be a lifetime Cardinal. However, if the marriage ends, I hope it is amicable.

In that scenario, Floyd better get ready to take over Larry's role.

Larry's presence on this offense is huge, which can be seen when he is not playing but he currently makes up a restrictive cap hit. This I know, if he does leave it will not approach the diabolical situation which was Boldin and will be done with mutual respect. Merry Christmas to Larry who at this moment is still a Cardinal and all the ASFN members!

Fitzgerald just signed a restructured deal this past off season where he was paid less then market value this year to give the Cardinals cap space. Releasing him or asking him to restructure his deal again reflects extremely negatively on the Cardinals. How do you get the next guy to agree to restructure to help the team if you screw over Fitzgerald? How do you entice free agents if you are know to negotiate in bad faith?

If he agrees to a 3 year $30mil restructured Contract, which is what I think he'd get on the open market anyway, I think we keep him.

If any of that is true, then he is a fraud and not the guy he has been pretending to be. Fits is one of the few good guys in sports and part of his legacy will be to retire as a Cardinal and spend his entire career with one team.

You Just can't pay a WR that kind of money it's a completely dependent position. You can have a guy like Fitz in his prime and it's not gonna matter if you have guys like Skelton, Hoyer, Lindley, Anderson throwing it to him.

In my opinion money should be invested in defense and an offensive line nothing is a QBs best friend like a dominate run game.

Plus is this NFL with the new rules even average WR can look good

This is a Bussines the patriots have made it a policy to get rid of guys sooner than later no matter who they are and it's seemed to work out fine

I certainly wasn't even remotely hinting at Fitz being a fraud, bb. I hope you understand that. I too share in the sentiment that it would be great to see Fitz remain with the Cardinals for the entirety of his career---but not even Jerry Rice was able to do that. It all comes down to what Fitz wants. He agreed to his previous contract with 2015 being a potential swing year. If he really wants to stay AND compete for a ring, he, his agent, Steve Keim and Mike Disner will find a way. If not, he will ask to be traded or released.

BTW---Fitz conceded to the NBC crew that he was not 100% happy with his role in this offense---this is no secret. Fitz takes tremendous pride and care in his body and his current role might shorten his career and in his mind most likely is not maximizing his talents.

Agree with this. We all hate Dallas but they're a good example, they drafted high for linemen in each of the past few years and now have a dominant line. It's no coincidence Romo says he's playing the best football of his career. Their running game is also off the charts.

Consistently dominant football teams are built from the inside out. A RB starts for, on average, something like 4 years. WRs come and go. But a dominant line may outlast 3 or 4 RB's, a plethora of WR's and a QB or two. If you're lucky they can play 10+ years. You get the most bang for your buck with a good line.

But... The bill for their top RB and wideout is now due and we'll see how well they do if either leaves.

But what other role can he take????? Playing on another team isn't going to instantly get him separation from DB's and the speed he needs to be more of a downfield threat. Honestly the only other place he could go would be New England with Tom Brady's pathetic dink and dunk routes, and he sure isn't guaranteed more passes they way they spread the ball around.

I get what you are saying, but Larry needs to come to the realization that his role is invaluable on 3rd down to this offense, and it isn't going to be much different anywhere else.

That being said, I don't think he is going anywhere. His name is worth too much to this franchise off the field to let him go.

I have a question, a certain safety on the Cardinals was let go for gay accusations there have been rumors about Fitzgerald being gay, do you think the same could happen to him

Who was the last SB champ to have a great WR core? Yes Larry is a class act but I'd rather put that money to use in the trenches and improve the team from the inside out.

So damn wrong. The cardinals offered Rhodes an extension HE TURNED IT DOWN to test the market.

I guess we can trust Larry's character.
