Why do you guys think Scott is not getting a chance, his numbers in Tucson were ridiculous, 25 HR, and 409 OBP .597 SLG and a .325 BA. All this talk about trading for power, why not give him some playing time. He only had 3 errors, but I realize Gonzo never has any so...
I know he stunk at 2nd base, but those batting numbers are more impressive than Carlos (his OBP was higher due to getting hit) or Connor. Give hm some playing time. Try him in left field, what's it hurt?

I think the Dbacks are doing the Gonzo farewell tour right now, so itll limit the young guys chances. But with 5 or so quality OF prospects, someone will need to get traded. The team doesnt seem to have any power or good starting pitching coming along, so some trades will need to be made. A lot of the Dbacks current young talent seems to be redundant.

Rosters expand on Friday so he could be up soon. I know Tucson is in the playoffs, but that fact that Hairston will be out of options has to take precedence. Eric Byrnes has not proven to be consistent over the course of his career. Luis Gonzalez should not return under any circumstances. Unless the Dbacks want to go out and get a big slugger, Scott Hairston has the biggest upside of potential 2007 left fielders.

I heard on 910 AM today that when the rosters expand, the Dbacks will bring up Chaote, Slayton (I believe thats his name, the lefty who's tearin in Tucson...), and Montero. I'm not sure if they said any others but thats what I heard.

I'm kinda surprised by the Montero call up. I hope it doesn't mean we might be trading Estrada....

I really like Hairston but at this time I think his best value to the franchise is being potential trade bait. The Dbacks are going to need a big bat and unfortunately that's probably not Hairston, so I am guessing that they look for a legit middle of the order guy in free agency to fill the void in left field.

Reportedly Estrada is unhappy here, so Montero is doubtless getting a closer look to see what we have in the wings in case Estrada really pushes to leave, or if we can really get something for him.

Thats why I'm hoping the Montero call up isn't because Estrada will push for a trade. I know he's been unhappy here but hopefully Byrnes can settle him down

Maybe that's what the DBacks want to do. Perhaps they want to see how "major league ready" Montero is before they ship Estrada off this offseason. You don't dump your girlfriend unless you know you have something else lined up. That's exactly what the DBacks are doing, and in my opinion it's a pretty smart move. I like Estrada, but if we have a solid young kid (who is quite similar to Estrada), why not trade him? He's got quite a bit of trade value I would imagine.

In regards to Hairston I say bring him up. He has certainly worked hard to get back to the big leagues. Give him another shot.

I was going to say something similar. Buy low and sell high with estrada. He's had a good year. Get good value for him.

Hariston will hit in the major leagues. I really think he will. I have the feeling that he will get that chance somewhere else.

I would rather see Micah Owings get called up. He's now 10-0 down in Tucson. By the way, why do we even bother with Choate?
