He would add some speed to the defense. I think (not sure) he is alot faster than Rolle, Green and Macklin. He would be good to get in our secondary especially for his quickness. I wonder if our CBs are gonna play 45 yards off the WR this year or are we continously going to get burned deep.

I like Smoot but his off the field issues will keep him off Mr. Bowties team.

Well, I seem to recall a certain Carolina WO setting NFL records burning Mr. Smoot, not long ago.

Here's one reason why not: he's not very good.

He was badly overrated when the Vikes gave him big bucks. Terrible in run support, takes a lot of chances in coverage. Meaning he gets some picks and gives up a ton of big plays.

I'm all for improving our DB's, but if you think Rolle is somehow being replaced this upcoming season, your sadly mistaken (IMO).

As for Smoot.... HE'S NOT THAT GOOD...

I disagree. Smoot is a solid #2 CB and would immediately be our #1 CB as far as talent...however, he was signed as a FA from the Redskins as a #1, paid significantly like a #1, but is not playing up to that contract. Combined with the Love Boat incident...the Vikes are trying to clean house.

I actually dont want Rolle to be replaced. I want to see how he does this year with the new DB coaches and hopefully used to jam the WR at the line, Something he was labeled as a "Physical CB" that we play 10 yards off the WR. If we are playing that far off cause we are worried we are going to get burned deep then bring in a quick CB like Smoot who is a FA. I think he has great potential.. just my opinion though.
