What has this guy done to deserve an interview.

I realize that he and Warner had something magical for that short time but he was an utter failure in K.C. and I wouldn't call the Steelers offense this year a juggernaut.

Everything I read about this guy is he is a complete and utter ********.

SOmeone please tell me a reason for me to cling to in case we are just stupid enough to hire him as our next head coach.

He's a good OC and could fix this offense.

I'm not a fan of bringing him in as HC, but that's what makes him a candidate.

Because I think the last passing td we scored was when he was here.

I think it's a mandatory interview, and just one more step we have to take before we can hire Horton. I think it's called the Looney Rule.

I dispute that Todd Haley is a good OC. I think he's sufficient, but it would have taken a lot (i.e. running 40 times a game) to not produce with Warner, Fitz and Boldin.

YOu know you might have a point about Haley not being a good HC. I remember how Ben Rothlisberger moaned and groaned about how bad Whiz was as a OC. He sure turned out to be correct about him.

More than likely Michael wants to pick his brain about fixing this offense. Haley does bring one thing to the table that this offense sorely lacks, and that is the fire in his belly. If nothing else, that would be a welcome change to this offensive mess. But I am sure that since Haley has already been here, and was part of something good that happened here, he will have knowledge of what is now lacking here on the offense. Who knows if that knowledge is sufficient to actually fix the problems unless you talk with the man to get his perspective. He has insight and first hand knowledge that no outsider could possibly have. Just maybe, Michael has already figured it out, but like a good reporter, he wishes to confirm what he believes from one more source that he has reason to trust from their previous relationship.

You just melted down my sarcasm detector with this stuff. I honestly can't tell which way you meant it, it can kinda go both ways. :D I'm usually pretty good at it.

Actually, I meant it both ways. It has been reported that Haley and Ben did not get along. Ben was hardly able to stand Whiz and was ecstatic when he left.

Haley's the best OC the Cardinals have ever had. Helped take the team to the SB where they put up over 400 yards of offense on the NFL's #1 defense. No other OC in Cardinal history has done that. Franchise record in points scored in 2008. Cards scored half a hundred points less the year after he left.

Responsible for the offense that resurrected Kurt Warner in 2007 when Cards scored almost a 100 points more than in 2006. Only Cardinals OC in history to have his team score over 400 points in consecutive seasons. Only had that bad season in KC because of injuries.

If Mike thinks that Kolb is salvageable, then Haley is probably the best fit. His offense relies on quick timing routes and not holding onto the ball too long...the reason he was brought to Pitt this year (they wanted Big Ben to take fewer hits and get rid of the ball quicker). People have said that they want Norv to be OC, if Horton gets the gig...well, that would be disaster for Kolb. Norv's offense is a downfield, vertical attack and Kolb would not fit into that system very well.

Who gives a crap about Kolb? He's going to get himself hurt in a few games no matter what the scheme is or who's blocking for him.

I would prefer to avoid Haley as I have never found him the least bit impressive....if we must consider former coordinators....Mark Trestman would be a better choice.

Further proof Cardinals fans are starved for legitimate football coaches. Just because he was here when something good happened doesn't mean he was a primary reason for the team's success. The Cardinals had to dig up Trestman out of retirement (he was stock broker IIRC). He's so well respected he's coaching in the CFL last I heard.

Does that mean you endorse Haley, DJ?

You are out of your mind if you like Haley as a coach here. Let's not forget now that Kurt Warner was the QB here when Haley ran the offense. Remember how Kurt was always arguing with Haley? Haley is a hothead. He faltered in KC. He lost the respect of his players. IMO, he is best suited as an OC and that is all. He is friends with Mike Bidwill. That is why he is getting his interview.

I think Kurt is on record on how much he got along with Haley.

I don't like his temper for an HC.

But he got the shaft in KC for sure. 5-8 with injuries to Cassel, Charles, Moeaki, Berry and a few others, with Moeaki, Berry and Charles all getting injured in like the first 2 weeks.

Those guys all played big parts in their 10-6 season before that year. That'd be like Kurt Warner, Hightower, Boldin and Wilson spending all of 2009 on IR after the Super Bowl year. 10-6 with a playoff win over the Packers? I think not.

He was 5-8 when he was fired and even won a game with our one-time 4th string QB, Tyler Palko. I kid you not. The fact that he got that team to go 5-8 speaks volumes to me.

If it weren't for that temper, I'd be ALL for bringing him in, stat. I believe the adjective Bartel used on the radio was "abrasive"...

Then again Coughlin and Belichick aren't "nice" people...
