Why wasn’t Rosen starting day 1?

Wilks said he is committed to “playing the best 11.” That obviously wasn’t the case for the first 3 games. Does he really expect us to believe that Bradford was/is better than Rosen?

In practice, it's very possible that Bradford looked better or just as good with the addition of experience. Come on, you think all his teammates and even Rosen where being coy about being impressed with him... now the pressure of an actual game was a different story

Yeah, I think Bradford would have had to have gotten hurt or played horrific to not be the starter week 1, and seeing as he only played like 2 series all preseason he didn't get a chance to show up how pedestrian he is.

I think if we would have drafted Rosen first and then added Bradford later, things may have played out differently. But we paid Bradford 15 mil guaranteed this year so he was obviously named the started. Remember we had no QB under contract when Bradford was signed and this board was exploding. Mgt signed Bradford not know how well the Rosen pick would work out.

Honestly who cares about the money. It actually reminds me of the difference between the Cards organization and the one they played today...

If you recall Seattle signed Matt Flynn from Green Bay in 2012 (everyone thought he was going to be the next breakout qb) only to draft Russell Wilson in the 3rd round. Before the season started they named Wilson the starter because it was evident he was a leader and the man for the job. They go on to win 11 games that year and the rest is history.

yup. They gave Matt Flyyn 9 million guaranteed... saw Wilson was better, cut bait on Flynn before the season even started and the rest was history.

So we played Bradford less than 3 games and cut bait. No real difference. Remember, we had no QB at the time and our fan base was hostile.

Imagine if we wouldn't have signed Bradford and missed out on a QB in the 1st round, which happened to us last year and could've easily happened again. Especially since Keim didn't even want to sacrify a future 1st round pick. Mike Glennon would be running the show now with a mid round rookie inferior to Rosen backing him up.

I expected Bradford to last about 3 or 5 games. But my question mark was how long would his knees hold up, not so much his performance . While he was a very average QB at best, I thought he could move the chains a bit with DJ or Fitz.

At least Rosen looks like he belongs and we can put the Bradford saga to bed. It was quite necessary at that time, but obviously it didn't pan out. If Rosen balls out, it was for good. Imagine Bradford playing better but still mediocre, with Rosen riding the pine...

I believe that in that same time period (since Russell Wilson was drafted) the Cardinals have had nine different starting QB's.

Same reason why he puts a lot of players out there right now, he is clueless.

Because Rosen was never going to start week 1. In fact, I very everyone in the organization hoped Rosen wouldn't start during year 1.

I'm not going to get into the financial aspect of this type is thing, but I've mentioned it already a couple of times. Many times (sometimes?), I think playing a person just because he is the vet and has more experience is way over blown. Athletic ability and all that can go with it trumps that argument.

What little I saw in the pre season showed me who should have been starting based on ability alone.

No real difference other than going 0-3 and exposing our historical ineptitude to the world. Do you think the other players have enjoyed their first four games here? They’ve already lost an enormous following in AZ due to this start. “No difference . . . “ cmon . . .
