I missed Minski's post about Lamb. If we want a player to make an immediate impact, it won't be a guy who might be a third or fourth WR, when we can get one (this year) in the 3rd or 4th round. JMO.

Dont draft for need, Wirfs a work out wonder that will be moved to Guard, that will cost Tackle Capital and money. Murray was fine at RT and Gilbert had the best camp prior to injury of the whole Oline. Continuity is key.
Cards Oline ranked high at pass blocking and would run 4 WRs a ton.

Arguments for Lamb:

A- Kyler and Lamb have chemistry, he was his top weapon and that's irreplaceable, you have never seen a Rookie of the year QB, teamed with his top weapon the following year.

B- Lamb knows the terminology, it was taken from Oklahoma to help Kyler succeed.

C- is familiar with the offense

D- Top in Yards after catch, what this offense runs on
.
E- due to Cvd-19 you lose mini camps and rookie mini camps, so the familiarity with the system and chemistry with Kyler already, is as important as ever.

F- Larry is retiring ASAP, you groom Lamb and dont miss a beat when this happens.

G -2 years left on Kirk's deal and he has has injury issues. So you are looking at possibly losing Fitz and Kirk in the next 2 seasons

H- Andy Isabella, Butler and Johnson dont look like they will be big factors in the NFL. Butler was almost cut before camp, Andy played in 1% of snaps and Johnson played less and less until he was eventually Inactive, the exact opposite trajectory a rookie should have in a losing season.

Roll out the best WR Corp in the NFl next season!

Below are stats Keim keeps repeating as to why I dont think Oline will be a choice in the first.

“We want a player that will have the biggest impact on our team”.... or something like that.

With Murray and Gilbert in the fold an OT will not have an “ big impact”. An OT MIGHT challenge to start but will unlikely unseat anyone immediately and have an impact.

considering the fact that we are looking at ota’s being cancelled and an abbreviated off season makes me believe it will not be an OT...not with #8. A 3rd or 4th rounder would allow time to be developed.

Lamb, Brown or Simmons would offer that “ biggest impact” almost immediately.

So I’m not saying this is what we should do. I, like all of you , are trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

I can guarantee you, I’m probably wrong. Lol.
Your analysis is tied to the assumption that GM's always tell the truth and never lie.

Bottom line is that Keim can't really get it wrong. Brown would strengthen our DL immediately. Simmons could be what D-Wash was supposed to be, but even bigger and faster. Okudah would make our CB group elite. Any of the big 4 OL are 10 year starters imo. Some people seem low on Wirfs suddenly, but he would be a perfect fit: athletic freak, effortless mover in space with very good power. Monster in the screen game the minute he steps on the field. He could start off at guard and then switch to RT. It's not like Pugh, Sweezy and Gilbert are durable. Wirfs could start out at G and move to RT next year. So no reason to worry about OL not making an impact. Tunsil, one of the best LT prospects recently, spent his roookie year at LG.

And then Keim could trade down, take Henderson, Becton, Kinlaw or Ruggs, and add another valuable pick. There is no way in hell we mess this draft up! Would have to be an absolute shocker of a pick.

I agree that it will Lamb, unless Simmons drops. Keim wants an immediate impact and as you said we are probably going to have a reduced off season if a meaningful one at all. So who better to draft than a WR who is one year removed from playing with your QB? KK already changed all terms to match Oklahoma etc. We are lucky again, like with KK wanting Murray when we happen to have the 1st pick, in that Lamb is arguably the best player at his position in the draft and elite and should be available at our pick.

With regards to OL we always hear that it’s more the play of the unit and how they bond as rather than an individual player necessarily. Not to say a great one won’t improve our OL but do we have the time etc this off season to build that bond?

I don’t see how Keim wants an immediate impact. He has a 22 year old franchise QB.

Keim said it not me

What’s he going to say?

“we are not looking for immediate impact players; we have a long view since we own Kyler for the next decade and there’s nothing he can do about it”

So on what grounds can you just dismiss it?

I think GMing is a continuum:

if you have 42 y/o Brady you don’t draft projects
if you have 22 y/o Murray you can afford to draft projects

I agree with you, my points were just based on the fact that Keim wanted an immediate impact, of course he could just be saying that as you said
