Mitch: You may be right on but based on the odds of anyone making an accurate prediction for who the Cards will take I will give you a six pack of beer if you are correct. If you are wrong you do nothing. This is only for you as if enough guys make a prediction someone will be correct. I predict the Colts will take Andrew Luck. That is my one and only prediction. I guess I could predict Washington will take RGIII but I will just stick with my 99.9999% chance of being right about Andrew Luck. My prediction percentage will be much better than Mel Kipper.

Very true this year. Last year it was a fairly good bet to say the Cards were going to take Patrick Peterson. This year there are at least as many as 10 players that could be the Cards selection. And every one of them has the potential to be a solid player for Arizona.

If you are going to be selecting close to the middle of the draft 2012 is a very good year to be there.

If the Cards select Fleener in the top 25 picks the entire organization needs to burn in a firey pit & never return, given or other pressing needs like a OT, WR2 & a dominant OLB.

Funny how Wiz was a TE & we have seldom thrown to one or utilized them effectively since the days of Novacek/Awalt. Not gonna happen IMO

When you have the 13th pick of the best college football players in the world you should be able to get a good player. You got to be just a little bit dumb if you do not. Taking the BPA is probably the best way to achieve this. When you start going out on a limb thinking you are smarter than everyone else you end up with the Matt Leinarts of the world. I say this because some thirteen teams passed on Leinart. Why would that be? What did they see that we did not? Sometimes the BPA may be so close that there are 2-3 that you could pick from and that is when need comes into play. When we drafted Peterson he was the BPA and he performed like the BPA. Lets do it again. We all have our favorites. I also do but I submit to the guys who make a living evaluating players and go with the BPA not my favorite guy.

It was 9 but that teams passed on drafting a guy is usually meaningless in evaluating a players worth.

Top players on our Defense:

Wilson-overlooked 63 times
Dockett- passed on 63 times
Campbell-passed on 49 times
DWash-passed on 46 times
Acho-passed on 102 times
Rhodes-overlooked 122 times
Peterson-passed on 4 times :D Just wanted to add PP21 because every time I look at that group the 2012 season gets more exciting.

DEFENSE! Never thought I'd live long enough to see a lineup like that in Cardinal uniforms.

Mitch-----I find this scenario very interesting. I must confess that my first impulse was to laugh it off, but the more I read your post, the more I felt that it has merit.

Yet to be discussed-----what happens when we pass over addressing our O-line or a pass-rusher in the first round yet again??????????

The timing for this is simply way off your initial thought IMO, was the correct one. We currently have two quarterbacks that have trouble moving past their primary receiver and now we want to set up an offense with four passing options?

They have around a 55% completion percentage and have a QB rating in the high 70s, I don't think this is the time to yet again pass up on our weakest spots to give tools to quarterbacks that can't make use of the ones they already have.

We need to fix the offensive line and keep improving our defense with a pass rusher. Plus as we all know we don't have a second round pick and we just can't waste 13 on a position that even if Mitch was right and he is a stud he simply won't be utilized do to the play were geting at quarterback at this time. If our O line was set and we had a top 10 QB maybe.

I would like to make a couple of more points:

1. When you have 2 pass catching threats at TE in a 2 TE set, defenses cannot play zone---they simply cannot. All the TEs have to do is sit in the holes---it's way too easy. It's pitch and catch all day.

2. It forces the opposing defense to engage their safeties into the middle of the defense, which in our case would mean MUCH less bracketing on Fitz, and we all know what that would mean to our offense.

Makes sense to me. But you'd have to trade down into the 20's imo. (I think a couple of good dark horses would be available, since we're flexable)

It would be a good way to attack the SF D. Since we have so much problem with their pass rush.

I'm in total agreement about needing to fix the O-line.

One thing to remember about our QB's is lack of practice time in our system. Kolb had the most of this last year, but never had the opportunity to really learn our system. Skeletor has been the odd man out for the past two seasons on getting practice time with our starters. Both will benefit greatly from a REAL OFFSEASON this year, and we should see much better QB play as a result.

I don't disagree with that or even the idea of having two TE that are skilled to run an offense that's hard to match up against. I simply don't think were ready for that yet. I do believe both quarterbacks are capable of growing tremendously. But IMO "at this time" the best way to do that is to get them the time they need in the pocket to build confidence and work through their progressions. Also by improving the defense as much as we can will take pressure off of them and give them the time to develop in a environment that isn't solely depended on the quarterback like we've had in the past.

We don't have Tom Brady or their offensive line. We have two quarterbacks with no pass protection, one with little confidence and injury concerns, and one in Skelton's case with development issues. Plus until the second half of last season they also had little help on defense and we need to keep improving on that. To make a long story short I believe the best way to improve the entire team including the quarterbacks isn't with the TE position but by improving our biggest weaknesses which IMO is the offensive line and a pass rusher. If we do that IMO it gives both quarterbacks the best opportunity to stay upright and develop and will strengthen our overall team in the process.
