I would like some information on Louis Holmes. He was highly coveted out of JuCo and is very impressive from a physical standpoint, but I really haven't heard much of him when the season started rolling. Can you guys give me a scouting report on him?

*stares at Gee!*

Thanks in advance.

He's not very good. A headcase workout warrior with very few skills.

Someone will take him though based on his combine times.

He has great athleticism and thats about it. He has no real moves. He is worth a day 2 pick because he has some potential.

Wow. Guess he relied too much on his athleticism a tad too long. I'm disappointed. I figured he'd show at least some flashes of skill.

Sadly his best game was his last game vs ASU. He also likes to jump offsides quite often. He was very disappointing.

Well, can I get thoughts on Spencer Larsen? I've heard his name posted a few times and aside from being the conference's leading tackler I don't know much. I have heard he's like 25/26, which does concern me honestly.

How do you think he could fit on the team?

college football seems to produce a few of these type linebackers every year:

pedestrian size / speed but when you watch him, he is in on seemingly every tackle -- or is the guy who suddenly comes from out of the screen in a blur to make a tackle

is he worth a second day pick? yes. For the Cards? I dont know.

He is up there in age becuase he took 2 years off to go on a his morman mission.

Very good LB prospect IMO. 131 Tackles(led Pac-10), 15.5 Tackles for loss to go with 4 sacks. He is always around the football and becuase of that he recovers a lot of fumbles. Very Smart kid and great character. Not a great pass rusher or great in pass coverage but he is above average at both. Where he shines is at run defending, really knows how to take the right angle and fight through traffic, sure tackler. I think he could play any 3-4 ILB spot, 4-3 MLB, and maybe 4-3 OLB. At least those are my obersvations having only seen him play in UA's last 3 games.

Also Holmes stinks. 5.5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. Not even his athletic ability helped him out.

Louis Holmes was consistently the last DL off the line after the ball was hiked. Every Cats game I watched he was the last guy to make contact with an OT. He can't shed a block to save his life, either. I don't see him doing anything on Sundays.

Louis Holmes will end up being a LB in the pros, he will make a roster but not be very good.

Spencer Larsen is awesome. I think he should be an early third round pick. He is mature because he is a morman who came to school late, but he is always in the right place at the right time, and he doesnt miss tackles.

Larsen is the opposite of Holmes. If you could combine the heart and passion of Spencer with the size, speed and physical freakishness of Holmes you'd have an all-world football player.

I think Holmes will have a Chris Henry-like combine and get drafted too high because of it.

I think Larsen will get drafted low then surprise people in camp and make somebody's roster, even if it's as the type of special teams player the hometown fans will love.

Back to Holmes, his inability to get off a block and get to the QB was the main reason the UA defense disappointed, which was the main reason the UA's season disappointed.

I'm not a UA guy at all and Spencer Larsen has impressed me when I've seen him. He passes the eyeball test of "does he make plays?"

Larsen is legit. IMO, he's the most impressive player on uofa's defense.

ASU's Robert James (2nd to 3rd round pick) is more athletic & is faster but Larsen is much more of an instinctive and heady LB.

Holmes is a great athlete but underachieved immensely. The guy likes to party more than play football.

Larsen is very similar to former Cat Marcus Bell, who played a little in Seattle. I think Spencer will make a team and have a fine NFL career.
