99.9% chance he stays.

Unless the Cardinals offer him a RIDICULOUSLY low salary (like barely above vet min), he is staying here. This guy cares more about the Cardinals than probably anyone on the team....the only way he isn't here is if the management decides they don't want him.

And with him traveling with the team last year and still being a vocal leader while rehabbing, I think it's pretty clear that Arians wants him in the locker room.

Well they just paid him for a full year of service which wasn't rendered...hope he'd step up.

I think so, but they basically got the same production out of Rucker & Kelly last year for a combined $2 million. Plus the young guys (Ed Stinson & Kareem Martin) are still waiting in the wings. Dockett's got more leadership that those guys & Tommy Kelley is likely gone anyways to cash in on a bigger payday.

It's going to come down to whether or not Dockett is willing to play for $4-5 million/year.

I don't know if I agree with that. I think with the fire under the team last season to get to a Super Bowl you would have seen some real monstrous play from DD. Which I think we can expect this year. I would imagine his desire is at an all time high right now.

Agreed. He is worth more to the Cards than he is elsewhere. I would guess Dockett sees some guaranteed money like Fitz, and a short extension.

I'm not trying to hate on Dockett...

Statistically (ESPN):
DD 2013: 36 tackles (+10 assists), 4.5 sacks in 16 games (no forced fumbles, recoveries or ints)
DD 2012: 23 tackles (+11 assists), 1.5 sacks in 15 games (no forced fumbles, recoveries or ints)

VS

Rucker 2014: 20 tackles (+4 assists), 5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles in 15 games
Kelly 2014: 23 tackles (+11 assists), 1 sack in 16 games
Total: 43 tackles (+15 assists), 6 sacks & 2 forced fumbles

I'd say they outperformed Dockett's last 2 years and probably at least equaled the best output Dockett could've had in 2014 statistically.

Obviously this isn't taking advanced metrics or hurries, QB hits, etc into account... if you want to dive into all that then be my guest. I like Dockett and I hope he's back, but I have a hard time seeing the team pay him $8-9 million for those stats when $2 million got them better #s.

they arent going to pay him 8-9 million. Hes taking a paycut and staying in AZ. His production will be better but his passion and leadership are top notch.

One thing to consider here are snaps. Both Rucker and Kelly had trouble shedding blocks the last qtr of the season. We really could've used fresher legs at that point.

But, there are no stats more meaningless in the NFL than DT stats. Defenses are designed for LBs and DE to get the big plays and numbers.

All three are good DTs and we could use all three next year.

I don't know why a lot of people have to pick players to not like on their own team.

Personally, I remember Dockett as being a groundbreaker in how he signed an extension without testing free agency way before it was cool to do so as a Cardinals player.

In case people have forgotten, Dockett signed his first extension with the Cardinals in the week before the infamous "crown their asses" MNF game against the Bears.
