Peterson had a much higher yards per carry though, 5.6 vs Edge's 3.8 though.

Peterson's yard total would have been higher if he hadn't missed 2 games.

One can only speculate what Peterson might have done as a Cardinal. We are a totally different team than the Vikings. He might have been super or just average. What is done is done and it is time to move on an deal with what we have. The bigger problem in not getting AP, if that was a problem, it is who is the man selecting our players. He is still with us and will be for a long time if it is Graves. There perhaps is the greater problem.

If our front office has anyone with a brain Edge will be back, but that definately is questionable with some of the moves they have made before. Hopefully we have learned not to let the good players go by now. If they cut Edge then they haven't learned a damn thing and I will think hard about even renewing my season tickets. We are close if they can just improve this team without just letting guys go or cutting them we may be onto something. We shall see.

You do realize that Edge had more YPC average on the left side of the line, right?

I don't know where you are getting those stats from? As football outsiders illustrates the complete opposite:

Left End: 3.80
Left Tackle: 4.40
Mid/Guard: 4.29
Right Tackle: 4.72
Right End: 4.27

Those stats illustrate that Levi Brown and Duece Lutui are one of the better right sides in the NFL when it comes to run blocking.

interesting -- Football outsiders concludes that the Cards offensive line is top 10 quality; both run and pass

Bear with me now because I'm always mathematically challenged on Friday nights.

Those averages can't be right can they, because they are all equal to or higher than Edge's season average of 3.8. Wouldn't those numbers translate to a 4.3 ypc average?

Duckjake,

I believe the difference is caused by Football Outsider uses a formula for adjusted yards per run. How that do that I have no fricking idea.

These numbers are then adjusted based on down, distance, situation, and opponent, and normalized so that the league average for Adjusted Line Yards per carry is the same as the league average for RB yards per carry (current baseline: 4.08).

Thanks.

Too many variables for me to buy their theory but thats a topic for another thread.

I have a sinking feeling Edge will be a surprise cut. I base this on nothing other than my ability to see into the future.
