Yes, Bush is listed at 201 lb but at 6' ft. , that is not much for the size of his frame to be an every down back...is it? I'm not knocking his ability, the guy is amazing but I see him having a short career like Gale Sayers. A lot of backs coming out of college have been around 200 lb. but not at 6' ft. .

He doesn't need to play every down. Houston can use Dominick Davis pretty much like USC used LenDale Whte with Reggie.

The #1 pick in the draft for a kick returner and third down back?

No wonder the Texans are talking about trading down :D

He will be an all pro for years to come. Not only is he the best RB in this draft but he may be the best WR in this draft.

He will change the way RB are used in football

Count on it

Will Reggie Bush hold up?
It's a collision sport. You could ask the same question about every player who dons a uniform.

Andre Wadsworth was a few pounds heavier than Bush and his knees got mangled. Someone should compare percent of down time to playing time for Barry Sanders and Jerome Bettis. (I suspect Sanders will win).

How can anyone predict whether or not Bush will hold up any better than Shawn Alexander or Edgerring James will hold up? It's all a matter of luck, how they use him, genetics (bones, tendons, ligaments, aging process), playing style, training regimen etc.

So what do we know? (1) He's not considered a "big" RB. (2) He's cut out of marble. (3) He's said to be in terrific condition and figures to stay that way. (4) He doesn't give tacklers much of a target, (5) He does take risks when he hurdles people and tries to cut in three different directions at the same time. (6) He does seem to be a relatively intelligent person who'll probably be careful about protecting his body.

You can probably find a half-dozen examples of other guys who fit that profile who remained relatively healthy and another half-dozen whose careers ended prematurely.

But I don't think Reggie's risk-factor is any higher or any lower than any other NFL player. And he sure does play good.

At 6ft, he does have the opportunity to bulk up some without really hurting his play. If he doesn't, I don't see him lasting too long in a league that's filled with superior players taking hits on him.

Barring some fluke injury I see no reason why Reggie won't have an amazing career. Not only did he have a REDICULOUS last two years in college football, he backed them up at his pro day showing how much of a pure athlete he truely is. The thing that makes me think that he will have a long career is that throughout college he never took a solid shot. Now the tackling is much better in the NFL, but I still think he will be the type of back (Barry/LT2) that is able to just shift thier body a little to avoid the full on blow, while still falling forward for that extra yard.

I have read several articles that he is a 20-25 carries per game guy. Will not be used much in the short yardage goal line runs.

He sure looks good to me and reminds me more of Sanders than anyone I have ever seen.

There were only 8 RB's in the NFL who averaged 20 carries per game last year. One of them was the Edge.

What will help him:

1. He wont be returning kicks like he was in college. One he just wasnt as good at it as people seem to think. Two the Texans already have 2 really good PR and KR men on the squad.

2. Domanic Davis

3. Jamaal Cook - FA signee from the Bucs who was a big reason for their rookies success last year. Very underrated signing they made by picking him up.

What wont help:

1. Team learning a whole brand new complicated blocking scheme. It will take a full year before they master it.

2. They will use him as a WR a lot.

I think if he can make it past his first year waiting for his OL to learn the new scheme he will be just fine.
