SARVER: I will try to bring a little luck, I’ll say that. Steve and I had a conversation the other night over a glass of wine. We were talking about how did we both get to where we are. Steve’s had so many good breaks and how did he get from someone who didn’t think that he could play college basketball, let alone 14 years (in the NBA). He’s got five (championship) rings, which by the way, the deal is for every two years we don’t get a ring, because I don’t have any rings on my hands, that I would take one of his. We’re very motivated to get a ring.
We had a conversation. I said, “Myself, I kind of get in the right place at the right time and things go my way.” We decided that – both our fathers died when we were freshmen in college – and somehow they’re both up there kind of engineering things for us and getting us in the right place at the right time, and good things have happened to both of us. Part of this game takes some luck, too, so we hope that some of our luck can rub off on the Suns and on this organization. That’s the only way I’m going to help on the basketball side, is luck.
