Well we have heard nothing on Shelton being traded or being cut this week. Friday starts the one and only Cardinal minicamp this year. He is still under contract and I think wants to be there. I thought that Shelton or his agent would meet this week with Graves/Green to find out his status. If he is not there on Friday, well then my conclusion is that he is or will be gone. Anyone heard any current info, kindly post it!!

I think he'll be preparing for his match vs Y2J this Sunday.......

But in all seriousness, I heard an interview about him on ESPN Radio and TD, saying that Buffalo's offensive coordinators didnt really like SHelton and thought he wasn't the same value as Travis......that has nothing to do with him being cut or not, however, just shows that perhaps others dont think highly of him.

Nevertheless, he'll be picked up quickly if cut, I would guess.

Nothing since Monday. It was reported that he came in and talked to Green that day and they are still trying to trade him.

Shelton

will be starting next to Big on the left side. The new rook will be starting next to Ross on the right. imo. And, even if he doesn't start, he can play every position but center. If he comes in, in shape, he stays.
Nobody knows what he and DG talked about recently.
Bidwill won't forget Shelton's loyalty throughout his career here.
DG just has a problem getting unstuck from mistakes he makes.
Shelton worked his tail off last year to get back in the fold and did exactly what was asked. DG couldn't stand that he was wrong about Shelton and his attitude.
I've been wrong before but Shelton has nine lives.

At this point we're probably not going to get anything of value for him, the cap savings by cutting him is minimal, the cap hit for keeping him is manageable plus we could use the depth. If things can be worked out between him and the team I would just as soon keep him around for the year.

The only advantage I can see to cutting him now would be to absorb the cap hit this year and free up the potential dead money under next year's cap. That could help us in FA next year before we go into the new stadium.

Unless

he plays his ass off! He has not been a BAD player at all. He played hurt two years and didn't participate in voluntary involuntaries. Pissed Green off.
Since then it's "he sucks". Not true.
Your point is well taken and added to my other thread. We would be brain dead to just let him go. Especially if he's in shape.

Now that sucks

theyr'e not even giving him a shot? Tell me you really think Wells and bridges are better ball players. Leckey and the Rook? Somebody, give me something, other than DG just didn't like what happened last year, and can't admit he's wrong when he is.

Btw

I understand if he gets hurt working out they'd owe him. But, better to have him in the fold learning whats to be expected of him than setting him up for failure.

I expect Shelton will be there. The Cards came out and said they will fine Boldin if he does not show up tommorrow. So we will see, I think he will go, but not do anything.

Where AntSports Steve heard that, I cannot say. I've never heard anything other than Shelton asked to be traded and the team agreed to try. I highly doubt he asked to workout and they said "No". They let Raynoch and Clement workout with the squad and there was no doubt they were going to cut them or trade them.

It depends on which position you would like him to play Shelton. I really don't see the big difference between LJ and Wells except at LT, where LJ is the better player.

I never understood how Shelton got in Greens doghouse. He was coming off surgery last year and could not work out much. Since then it appears he has gotten in shape and has done everything asked of him. I think with the cutting of Clement it is time for DG and LJ to bury the hatchet and get to work on improving this o-line.

I like what Green said on one of his interviews. He basically said, why should he be concerned with cutting a player on a 6-10 team.He said he wants guys that win and believe that they can win.He said the reason they lost last year was that not enough guys believed.Maybe Shelton is one of those guys.

There is no upside to just letting L.J. go. He is a good guy and a good player. DG needs to swallow some pride and recognize this is a guy we can use every game. Freeing up money for next year is not a good enough reason to let this guy go. Let us not make another stupid move again.

It was reported in a paper L.J. said this is a business and he will play where he is needed. He has not bad mouthed the Cards or DG to my knowledge. We need the guy. There is no rookie that can replace his experience.

Apparently it is very easy to get in DG' doghouse. If he can fire our starting center and start a rookie he can do anything.

I think Green wants him gone ASAP and I wouldn't be surprised to see him get cut in the upcoming weeks. Teams know he will be there as a free agent so they are not going to give up anything for him.

If the center part is what you are refering to, I think that you have a incredibly myopic view of what Green is doing. Sure our center position would have been stronger had Green kept Kendall. The team would have been farther away from where Green is trying to take them. I know that this is an extreme example but using your logic, shouldn't we be trying to acquire Terrell Owens?

call me crazy but....

we could still trade LJ for Travis Henry.

If both players are going to be cut on June 1st, then why not still do the trade? If Shipp is not the same RB he was before his injury, then Henry could share the carries with Arrington. Henry would be the power back and JJ would be our speed guy.

Wouldn't this be a better alternative then letting go of good players without compensation?

not in buffalo's mind... they want more than shelton, and that is why the deal didn't get done.

But if they aren't going to get anything for Henry anyway, then why not do the deal before June 1st?
