Blacked-out games available online

NEW YORK -- NFL fans whose local teams' games are blacked out will be able to watch replays online for free -- though not until after midnight.
The recession has left several teams in danger of having games blacked out this season. The league announced Thursday that home fans will be able to view the delayed broadcasts on NFL.com for 72 hours, except during "Monday Night Football."
A game is not aired in the home market if it does not sell out 72 hours in advance.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says the league understands the economy is limiting some fans from buying as many tickets as they had in the past.

Just wondering if anyone would take advantage of this?

If we get blacked out and I can't find a way of watching it live, then I'll definitely be watching it on NFL.com. Good move by Goodell but I'm still not sure that airing the games live would keep people from buying tickets.

A lot of people have media pc's now hooked up to large screen plasma TV's. If they streamed live games DirectTV would sue their butts off.

I've got the new RedZone channel on Dish...I'm curious as to how it's going to work out.

Yeah they were talking about this on CNBC today, thought it was an excellent idea.

Frankly I don't understand why NFL Network doesn't do this in the first place? They do in the preseason they televise on tape delay virtually every game each week so why just have a couple on NFL replay during the regular season?

It's better than nothing.

However, it can't be viewed until midnight the day of the game; is that midnight EST, and hence 10:00pm Arizona time, or midnight local time for the games? If it's not availible until midnight that mean that most people wouldn't be able to view it until after work on Monday. By then it's already been discussed throughout the day at work, on the radio, tv, etc. Definitely anti-climactic at that point.
