the better v bookie is whether he'll cry or not. I hate when guys cry at their presser unless it's funny like Vermeil crying every week. There was somebody who retired not too long ago that had the best presser i've seen in a while. He was happy to retire and was looking forward to it. I'm pretty sure it was a football player.

edit: it was Teddy Brushci.

I dont care if he retires or he doesnt.

But I do know that he was given a signing bonus based on a two year contract. Urban already mentioned that the club has every right to go after a pro-rated portion of the bonus should he retire.

I hope they (cardinals) go after it.

Unless Warner negotiated the signing bonus in such a way that the language says he gets the full bonus even if he does not play both years then he should only get half the bonus. I think he retires and goes out on top. Hope he doesn't but think he will.

I doubt they will. I agree that they should.

Why do you doubt it? This is the same team that wouldn't pay Warner a bonus he was due if he achieved a certain passer rating and only missed it by .1 (I agree with that decision too BTW)

Wouldn't play Boomer Esiason so he couldn't achieve a bonus that was due to be payed.

I know there are other cases too that I just can't recall off top of my head.

Who knows though you may be right.

They COULDN'T even if they wanted to. There were rules in place to prevent it. If they wanted to or not is irrelevant.

That may be so. But it sure was a topic of conversation by the sportswriters in AZ who obviously weren't privy to such a rule. Nor was Warner who thought he should have been payed the bonus.

But either way there are other examples.

Quite an impressive list of NFL Quarterbacks who were 38 in their last NFL season.

Sammy Baugh, Y.A. Tittle, Fran Tarkenton, John Elway, Steve Young, Joe Montana, Randall Cunningham and Dan Marino.

Of course there's several great QB's who retired at 37 and 39 as well.
