Will we cut Kolb

I can see the logic within the cap mess and lack of QBs available which could keep Kolb as a Cardinal but with the mention of Stanton as coming aboard and a slew of other possibilities (including drafting one), I just do not see how any new coaching staff would want to keep any of these QBs other than Hoyer as a third stringer personally. So, be it restructure his contract or not...do we keep Kolb

I think Skelton is built for Arians - and Moore- But how damaged is he? He was fed up after being benched with the lead and treated like a punk, like Beanie and many more Cards trying to lead from behind- as far as measurable- He is the closet thing to PM and Luck.

Arians evaluations are close to the vest- But I throw mine out there into the flaming Cardinal fan forge- I have Skelton graded equal to Kolb - cheaper and better skill set for BA's system. Hoyer I don't know enough but worth a flyer- Kolb is a west coast QB - BA is not a west coast coach- He'll throw like his hair is on fire- which I got to learn to live with - as the stupid Niners run it right down our throat with ANY QB!

I wouldn't mind seeing Kolb take a pay cut and getting one last chance, but don't think he's the right QB for Arians and think he will be cut.

I think folks here are answering the "should we" in this poll and not the realistic "will we." If over half of the folks here think we are cutting Kolb, then over half of the folks here aren't paying attention or they just really really want Kolb gone. There is no reason to think he will be cut right now, that is all. :D

I'm one pf those that want him gone.

1 Health
2 Pay
2B Had a hard time hitting #11
3 When healthy he ran to the right always and couldn't throw it away. Most the time interception,
4 Lack of speed
5 Not a very good long ball

Should I go on. Enough is enough! I will be upset if he is on our team this year.

I agree with you. In my opinion, we won't have the conclusive answer on Skelton until he plays in this system under BA and TM.

There are $3M reasons on March 17---and $9.5M more to follow if the $3M is paid.

If Skelton is a fit for the Arian offense, the offense is garbage.

Its much easier to come up with reasons to cut him than reasons to keep him.

Whenever I read someone say "Why do we need to keep Kevin Kolb, we're going to get Drew Stanton!" I throw up in my mouth.

I don't think that we'll cut Kevin Kolb. Right now, if I had to bet, I'd guess that Kolb wins the game of chicken and ends up playing on his current deal. Just a guess.

yea

I would rather run more like the 2 teams THAT WERE IN THE SB DID! but it is what it is- Tom Moore had the single back set with Peyton Manning and BA protected Luck as a rookie- especially early on but we aint got Andrew Luck.

I hope you understand what I mean by Skelton being closest thing to a prototypical QB for BA's offense, 6'6" 250 - :mulli:big arm - decent wheels for his size and Skelton is a tough SOB! If salvageable you start him fresh like a rookie- heavy on the run - build confidence in play action and take your 6 shots down the field each game- after you establish a normal.

Skelton is tough minded - He took a beating and proved he can win late in games. No QB could have succeeded in this mess - Kolb's 4 wins to start the season were all shakey- I don't think John's accuracy is great but- much of it was him being asked to do hard things way too often - rather than build his confidence and the team's.

He can throw it through a wall - you can't deny that- a simplification of the offense, protection and catering to skelton's skill set may make all the difference in the world.

One fan's opinion.

so did everyone else

We had 17 sacks in 2 games- proving Levi and I'll throw in Bridges were much more valuable than most Card fans gave them credit for- You can't evaluate a QB like that? We had 3 rookie olineman and broken backs,

Not to mention over paid Colledge and Snyder - everybody under appreciating our playoff oline- they aint worth nothing! Deuce is lucky we let him breath Arizona air- Levi is a turnstile- R. Wells can't hold a candle to Faneca- they can kiss my grits then and now-

Said it before - proof is still piling up - and yet same ole response- blink blink -calculated response! Ha HA

The trouble is he always misses the wall.

Yes, you can. Skelton is toast. He was drafted late for a reason and probably should not have been drafted. I don't understand the rest of your post.

well

I think Harbaugh and the Niners can with Skelton! Harbaugh and the Ravens too- you see it wasn't just Johnny Red Skelton that wasn't prepared to take the field- it was the whole damned offense!

He probably is toast - but I think He won more Games than any other Cards QB since Kurt Warner- in spite of his coaching than because of it- It is a new day and he deserves a fresh look.

I think we'll keep Kevin (economics and upside) but I doubt he stays healthy by Game 4 (maybe earlier).

In addition to getting knocked out of action three seasons in a row Kolb gets worse the more he plays. Do you think Arians and his guys will not notice or overlook that? Sure will be an interesting 10 days.

Thing is Skelton has never had full reps in TC and has always played behind a horrendous line with no running game. If we add talent to the OL and Arians/Moore believe in Skelton I won't criticize the decision until it fails with proper pieces around him.

If they bring back Kolb at the same contract rate... then I dont know what to say. 3 years in a row he has been a below average player who cant play more than half a season healthy.

The idea that he has leverage in this negotiation is nuts IMO. He has no more expirence in this system than anyone else, he does not fit the system, he is grossly overpaid and cripples this teams cap for years to come, there is no team that would offer him even half of his current salary or guarantee him a starting job.

If he does not renegotiate then he is gone, and he should be gone regardless.

Skelton was a mistake and we need to move on. Stanton solves nothing for us but will be a backup the coach likes.

Cut Kolb now as he isn't the answer either.

I hope we cut him but I think the owner sort of said he was leaning towards keeping him with some of his recent comments. Not in those words however. CUT HIM>

People still think that we should keep burning rubber on Skelton? You can't teach accuracy. Who cares if you have a big arm if you can't use it to connect to receivers.
