Wisconsin transfer guard Chucky Hepburn continues to impress during his debut season with the Louisville Cardinals.

The former Badger, who was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and included on the All-ACC First Team earlier this week, made the play of the year for the Cardinals on Thursday evening.

Pitted against Stanford in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, Hepburn played the hero. With roughly five seconds remaining and the score knotted at 73 apiece, Louisville guard Terrance Edwards Jr. launched a desperation three-point attempt as the shot clock expired. Stanford's Chisom Okpara corralled an offensive rebound and inexplicably tossed it to where Hepburn was situated at the left edge of the free throw line.

Hepburn caught the toss and nailed the mid-range jumper before the buzzer expired, lifting Louisville to a 75-73 victory. The former Badger’s big moment drew an eruption from the Spectrum Center crowd.

The Omaha, Nebraska, native finished the game with 20 points, a game-high eight assists, two rebounds and one steal in 39 minutes of play. He did so off 6-of-16 shooting from the field, 3-of-11 from distance and 5-of-7 from the foul line.

Hepburn's buzzer-beater sends Louisville to the semifinals of the conference tournament. It will face the winner of Clemson-SMU on Friday at 9:30 p.m. ET.

In his first season with the Cardinals, the three-year Badger starter is averaging 16.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 2.4 steals in 34.4 minutes per appearance. Alongside ACC Coach of the Year Pat Kelsey, Hepburn helped Louisville earn a 25-6 overall record and 18-2 mark during the regular season, an impressive single-year turnaround.

Of all the transfers from Wisconsin this offseason, Hepburn’s contributions are missed the most. His role in Greg Gard's current system would be interesting to witness, given the ascensions of John Tonje and John Blackwell.

Both the Badgers and Cardinals are in position for a No. 3-seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. If Hepburn's Cardinals win the ACC Tournament, their stock would rise even further.
