...they'll just be different.

The Whiz and Graves knew that this day would come, and I'm sure they have a contingency to shift the offensive focus pass to run with Leinart starting at QB.

I don't think we're too far away from achieving productive balance with the offense at this point.

Now the defense on the other hand...:madarms:

Different in that we will score less points per game. Not sure how much less but less. ML is not KW at this point, very few QB's are. Unless our O-line turns all pro then expect less production from the O.

A nice running game would make the defense better. Almost all really strong defensive teams run the ball a LOT.

I agree with the post, I think Matt will do fine. I think the Cards will bring in a vetern QB though. Who will it be, Man I have no idea.

If the defense improves we won't be worse. If the defense stays the same or <gulp> gets worse this team is in trouble as the offense won't be built for shootouts anymore.

If the offense can win time of possession the defense will be better.

Indeed. I would expect more 17-10 games than the 38-31 games we've grown accustomed to.

how will it not be worse

Kurt > Matt

and I think Matt will be good but Kurt is a HOF qb.

I never said that Kurt isn't a first ballot hall-of-famer, nor did I intimate that Sub-Zero will be anywhere near as productive of a QB.

But to think that all of a sudden that the Cardinals are a 6-10, 5-11 team without Warner is just plain silly.

If the front office makes enough of the right moves this off-season, there's no reason we can't win 9-11 games next season.

You know what makes me feel ok even though we lost a great player? Look at the "Caption" thread that LoyaltyisaCurse started. That's Michael Bidwill standing there, not Bill. Between him and Whiz I think that we are ok.

Leinart needs to throw 15-25times game completion-wise, with 30-50 runs.

Exactly. I think Leinart will be able to throw the ball for some wins this season but it will be not nearly something we could rely on as cards did with warner. Defense and run game must compensate...without either of those Cards will not be as good...

I agree. This is going to be on very interesting off season to follow. There will be plenty of fodder to keep this board moving forward.

Doesn't mean

2009 Cards > 2010 Cards

Clearly the qb position will take a hit, that does not mean the team will
Yeah, I must have been in a crap mood when I wrote this. I actually think we are going to offset the drop in the passing game with the running game. We have a good O line and Wells at RB. I still think there will be a little bit of a learning curve at the start of the season.

I'm a sucker for the football version of seven-seconds-or-less, and I wanted Warner to stay because we're not going to see that kind of ability at QB
for a long time. But I also want to see this team become more balanced and more consistent. Could be that 2010 < 2009. But as things move forward, it could also mean that we become more secure contenders than we are now.

I think Matt will do just fine.

Replacing Warner is impossible, no one is like him and there are no Warners in the draft.

Matt may or may not step up, remains to be seen, but it's time he does so we'll see.
