Nor should he.
I'm sure they are--to a point. They sure as hell better accept and encourage his input though.

I hate this part of a media-saturated world. We're nitpicking the smallest comments, second-guessing every move and coming to conclusions with just a liver of information. All of the instant- and always-on news we get gives us the illusion that we know everything, when reality we know precious little.
Whiz and Graves (for all of their faults) are smart people and haven't gotten to their station in life without having some experience handling a delicate dance like this one. That's not so say they won't F it up, but you can bet they're weighing just about any angle we're proposing against some that we haven't.
This is not a "in whiz we trust" comment, it's just a grumpy pariah sounding off on armchair GMs (myself included). ...and I'm not leveling this post at you, DCR, it just happened to follow on to your post.

You get some extra clout when you are the face of the franchise.
That is so BLATANTLY overstated around here. Is he? Yes. But who really cares? Players come and go regularly. This franchise will be here long long long after Fitz leaves.
The mere fact that a WR is the "face" speaks volumes to the year we had around here.
Um, no it is not. Sure players come and go, but so do coaches. Why wouldn't management want to make sure that the coaches brought aren't going to clash with the players? Why wouldn't you want to keep franchise players happy? You don't keep franchise players by alienating them. That is so BLATANTLY overstated around here. Is he? Yes. But who really cares?
