Finally got a chance to watch the video, really good interview. "Give me big men that can run and little men that can hit and I can build a defense!"

If it's 3rd and 12, I'm willing to sacrafice a little bit of run defense for another guy who can get to the QB. Williams or Branch don't offer a pass rush.

Just because you can pass rush as an end (CC) doesn't mean you will be successful at it as a DT. If we had CC, Branch/Williams, DD, Porter along with Horton's blitz schemes we would be fine. CC is too tall to play dtackle, interior lineman would have the leverage advantage if he was lining up over them, "lowest man wins in football". Yes, there have been a few tall DT's (john henderson comes to mind, also 335lbs at 6' 7") but I highly doubt you could throw CC in at a position he's never played (and isn't built for) and expect results. Dockett has shown that he can penetrate as an undertackle in a 4-3, overtackle's in the 4-3 are bigger and usually only get 2-3 sacks a season. You want a big body that can try to collapse the pocket (branch or big dan), but they typically don't get to the QB unless the hold onto the ball for too long.

Man... this guy is making me a believer that he can really turn around this defense!

I love the 1-5-5 defense on madden, it is sweet. In a 4-2 I would imagine CC will be the LDE, Dockett could play undertackle like he used to or maybe RDE, branch and big dan could be dt's as well, and porter could probably play RDE in non running 3rd downs. The 5th db would likely be rashad. Let him play back in zone so adub can harrass the qb.

Typically, when teams that have the personnel for a 3-4 defense decide to run a 4-2-5 defense, you only have 2 DT's on the field. The other two men on the ends are generally OLBs that line up on the line of scrimmage either with their hand in the ground or standing up. So basically the teams with 3-4 personnel will have 4 LBs on the field despite the 4-2-5 nomenclature. In actuality, it'll more than likely be a 2-4-5 but we'll have 4 men on the LOS.

It requires the two DT's to be quick penetrating tackles who generally shoot the B gaps to provide inside contain. The 2 OLBs on the ends have to be diverse enough to both rush and drop into coverage. Typically, one will rush while the other drops into coverage, but this can change as well.

The two ILBs play from their normal positions most the time and are responsible for intermediate zone coverage. Either could be called to blitz.

Oh okay, I've actually played with that defense on madden and noticed that the two OLB's were playing end, but I wasn't sure how that'd translate into real life football since I've never seen our team run it. I'm getting excited to see the new looks Horton will give us formation wise, there better not be a friggin lockout.

That lockout is the worst thing that can happen to a team with no returning QB or that is changing up their defense. We are doing both, ouch. Maybe a big reason why we go with Skelton as a starter if it goes down like that.:)
