In 1988 one of the less successful family owned Car Companies moved their manufacturing facility and home offices to Arizona were they continued to build their traditional WooNos brand of cars. Arizona welcomed them with open arms, thankful for having a major industry bring needed jobs and added enthusiasm to the state.
The people of AZ, wanting to support their new industry, immediately began to buy their WooNos cars and were proud to show them off to their neighbors and friends. After a couple years passed, people began complaining about the quality of the cars. WooNos seemed under powered and the quality control leaved lots to be desired. However, Arizonans being the loyalist that they are, still supported the company hoping for their eventual success. After a few more years, one witnessed Arizonans buying their 2nd and even 3rd WooNos assuming they were being improved upon from model year to model year.
But this was not to be, for as the years went by the WooNos seemed to continue to have the same old problems and deficiencies which their service departments failed to solve or correct.
In any other business and with any other company, their customer base would have eroded to the point that the business could no longer sustain itself. Any other business would have folded up shop, went out of business, moved their facility once again, or been sold to a more profitable entity with better management.
But Arizonans are an odd brood. Even after decades of producing an inferior product to other car companies, people of AZ for some reason continue to buy WooNos products, hoping that next year the company will finally learn how to make a decent car. How much longer this will continue is hard to say. Who knows if WooNos will ever, one day, go the way of the Hugo and other failed car companies.
