Looking at the ESPN boards...I am amazed at how many non-Suns fans think this is a great trade for the Suns.

It just boggles my mind how unpopular Stephon is.

Look at the allstar voting.

Of course his popularity will go way up in New York.

That being said I don't feel like Marbury was exciting really. Take Amare off of the suns and there is no more excitement.

I do like much of Marbury's game, but he just had to dominate the ball too much in order to be effective. He's also a very streaky shooter. When his shot wasn't going he did not do a good job of getting good shots for his teammates.

That said, the bottom line for me was that it was good to get rid of that massive contract. In a couple years Marbury will be overpaid by $8-9 million. Compound that with Shawn Marion being overpaid by $3-4 million, and the suns would have had problems with the salary again.
