Do you feel a push for a World Seires is worth giving up siginificant pieces of the future? And when I mean pushing for a world series, I'm talking about picking up rentals, like Matt Garza or someone on that level.

What are your thoughts?

I don't want to mortgage the future.

WE have parts we can deal, but not our top prospects.

I'm okay parting with Owings, Davidson and Holmberg since they are blocked at the major league level for the foreseeable future.

I don't see the DBacks parting with Bradley or Skaggs (and rightly so).

I would always push for the World Series if it was reasonably in reach, I don't think that's the case this year. By record, we are the 13th best team in baseball. We aren't particularly strong in any area and if we were in just about any other division we'd probably be talking about selling talent rather than renting players for the playoff run. If we can improve our team without sacrificing any potential stars I'd do it but this is not the season to pull out all the stops IMO.
