Boy the Raiders situation is getting bad fast.

Warren Sapp said on tv yesterday that DeAngelo Hall is the most overrated CB in the NFL and has been for years. He lost a little credibility when saying he remembers how when he was in Tampa Bay they used to target Hall, Sapp was a Raider when Hall entered the NFL, but he clearly is not high on him. Paper is all over Hall, unnamed players who said they never understood how Hall started given how little he played in preseason and how poorly he played in camp.

And Lane Kiffin is throwing Ryan under the bus, unprovoked he said he was very disappointed in the secondary play said "I didn't expect that." And then he later added he was surprised at the lack of pass rush given Denver started 2 tackles who'd never started and NFL game before, one a rookie one a 2nd year player. Remember Kiffin wanted to fire Ryan last year and Davis wouldn't let him.

That situation will get ugly fast.

Lane Kiffin seems to want to get fired...and I don't blame him.

I think he's gone by mid-season and Ryan takes over.

Not seems to he does. Remember he was asked to quit and refused because he gets more money if Davis has to fire him.

It's a crazy situation it's like the Cavaliers were when the NBA had to step in and give them extra picks because Ted Stepien had completely gutted the franchise. Honestly the Raiders are close to worse off than just about any iteration of bad Cardinals teams.

Joe would probably know better but my understanding is the Raiders due to offseason spending are actually near if not over the projected cap for next season. That of course is before you extract expiring contracts but it tells you how bad things are they suck, and they don't have caproom.

My friend Ted, the Raider fan asked me what was wrong with the Raiders, I told him they needed a new Head Coach for starters.

Any team that has Matt Cassel QBing :D. One team that has to be mentioned when it comes to the worst is the Bengals. They let Joe Flacco beat them . I don't care how good Bmore's defense is,that's embarassing. Both lines in Cincy are amongst the worst in the league,if not THE worst.

It barely constituted football. Hopefully Marvin Lewis' last season.

That said, I think they'll improve somewhat. But based on that performance, yes, one of the bottom 5 teams for sure.

I gotta go with the Rams. When your defense makes Philadelphia's third and fourth string WR look like Jerry Rice and Steve Largent, you're in some trouble. Offensively, they have the pieces but they seemed all out of place against the Eagles.

Honorable Mention: The Lions. Talk about being completely unable to do ANYTHING on defense. Giving up over 500 yards of total offense to a first time starting rookie QB, a first time starter at HB and a a backup HB is cause for someone to get fired.

Why do I doubt that it will be Matt Millen?

Oakland has a football team? I could swear I saw a baseball team and a baseball stadium show up last night to play the Broncos.

They sure played like a baseball team.

According to the paper something like 45 Raiders fans were arrested, several tased before during and after the game. The guy who printed that said too bad the players don't take it as seriously as the fans.

Ouch.

There was a story on PFT quoting a Bay-area paper that Kiffin stated he doesnt run the team.

I really think he's going to be fired very soon, and then that team will beat the odds and get better with a mid-season coaching change. Especially is that coach is Ryan (I forget his first name).

I don't think the Raiders are exactly rallying around Kiffin at this point. Seems to me they're like a classroom of 7th graders with a substitute teacher getting away with anything they can.

I think they have a similar situation to what Buddy Ryan did here where he has the offense and defense against each other to an extent. I'm not sure if hiring Ryan as the HC would solve that, don't really know. I did note that Kiffin said yesterday the defense not being ready to play was my fault. It was sort of a backhanded thing he was taking the blame while at the same time making sure everyone knew the problem was the defense not the offense.

With all the finger pointing going on there right now I hope they're all wearing safety glasses, someone's going to get an eye poked out.

Redskins deserve a vote in here (although I think the Rams are worse).

1. New coach, unable to bring in any players to run his system.
2. No depth and no developing tallent because cap is blow on aging high-priced has-been free agents, and most of their draft-picks over the last five years were traded away.
3. Offense, as of last week, hadn't even begun to work on a no-huddle/hurry up package. (My guess is they never considered they might be behind.)

Washington will have a top 3 pick in the next draft. I'm betting they trade it to the Jets for Farve.

Go Cards!!!

Well it was the first game of the season and many of the usual folks may not have been paroled in time for the game.
