This would make the third premier running back we sign in 6 years that is past his prime: Emmit, Edge and then LT. There has been no improvement from year to year in our rushing attack.

I think our running game has improved the past two years. Wasn't Edge the first 1000 yard rusher the past two years since Otis Anderson?

Haven't we had enough with has been RB's in FA????

I believe we go the draft route to get someone to compete with Hightower. Maybe sign a cheap 3rd back in FA?

I agree with this philosophy. Stop bringing in guys whose teams don't want them anymore. (That said, I liked the Edge signing. The Smith one? Not so much.)

I think with his ability and if he gets cut loose, we should have a doc look at him before the team does. I'm sorry we let JJ go and not Edge.

An emphatic yes. He is a perfect fit for an offense that wants to throw the ball and still has break away speed. Great at catching the ball and still one of the better blocking backs in football. I don't believe that the Cards would make a push for him but he definitely fits with our strengths on offense.

it'd be nice. decent blocker, also he could come out of the backfield to catch some balls

Abso-freaking-lutely I would be interested in him. He is my favorite non-Card because he is a classy guy and plays his tail off. He has good speed and would be great in a tandem-back system with Hightower. We would be lucky to have him. The guy is a younger, better version of Edge without the pissiness, whats the problem here?

If RG can be flawless because he helped give us one good year out of 10 then why would we hate on all vet RBs because Emmitt and Edge didn't play up to the impossible standards that you guys set for them?

I am usually against signing old running backs but LT still is the man and would love to see him in a cards uni. i think he would bring alot to the table not only on the field but in the locker room as well.

If the price is right (a little under James). Classy guy and I think has more left than a lot of people think. Agree with those that sign him and draft a long term rb. Seems you have to have a least two really good running backs these days.

Look past the name. 30 years old running back with 8 straight years of hard core pounding running the rock. Better not spend more then 3 mill on a RB like that, and better get him a better FB then Castille and at least one better interior OL.

It would not shock me if the Cards were to tap the free agent market for a premier RB (like LT or Deuce McAllister and then release Edge).

One possible obstacle - If you're either Deuce or LT and you saw what happened last year with Edge, would you want to put yourself in the same position of possibly riding the pines 75% of the time while Kurt W & Posse continued to "go aerial?"

Good point. The obvious question they would have to ask themselves is how much do they really want to help a team get to Super Bowl.

Along with the fact that Kurt doesnt like throwing to the RB unless its a designed play.

But I can see why LT would want to play for us if he wants to stay near his home in SD.

He's 29 and has alot of wear and tear. But how motivated do you think he would be for at least one year to prove the Chargers wrong? He had a pretty good year last year despite his injuries and i think he has one more 1200 -1300 year in him. Plus he would split carries with Tim and rookie to be named. Plus he has the speed that Edge NEVER had so they are apples and oranges IMO.

I would sign him for a 3-4 million a year offer for 2-3 years and put all our chips in getting back the Super Bowl the next two years.

Would not be too much risk IMO.

Sportscenter just said that Chargers and LT are in final stages of contract negotiation. Looks like we won't have a chance to think about getting him

He will be 30 in June. Motivated just doesnt have the effect anymore. 90% of the league is motivated as well in one way or another.

Also there is always risk with 30 year old RBs with a lot of wear and tear.

Either way its good news because that pushes one more back down the first round ladder for our potential selection at #31.

You'd have to say 'yes take LT'

depends on the compensation. He's used to running behind a much better O line than ours, but I'd take LT with his speed and vision for 2 years with Hightower backing him up.

For as much crap Edge got here, I'd expect the same complaints spoken about LT if he came here.

Enough with the on-the-decline RBs.
