Heck I'd take 40year in a trade for Kevin Kolb.

Seriously though I'd do it. At least Cassel has actually played 16 games in an NFL season and had two winning seasons for two different teams. Plus Cassel's sub 60% career completion rate would fit right in with what CKW looks for in QBs.

I don't know. The Cheifs were pretty bad last yr. and his rating is down not up from his career numbers. He's pretty much leveled out.

Kolb isn't captain check-down? Last year Cassel attempted many more passes of 10+ yards through the air. Cassel has had 2 years of near probowl level play, Kolb has had 2 games. And Cassel's one hand injury does not scare me as much as Kolb's several concussions.

No. Despite not being here very long, Kolb has a leg up on knowing our system better. Bringing in Cassell would probably cost us an extra year for him to get up to speed.

Aside from that - I don't know enough about either to make a judgment. Kolb does figure to be a bit younger.

Dont mistake me for thinking Cassel an all-pro, but I fully expect Kolb to be entering his final season in a Cards uniform and I also dont expect him to play more than 8 games. So, just based on finances I would rather waive Cassel's mere 600k in guarantees to Kolb's 6 million.

And the Cards were 6-2 in games that Skelton took the majority of the snaps at QB and he's the only Cardinal QB to beat SF since 2008. Maybe the NFL isn't such a QB driven league after all.

This is a silly argument considering that the best player on the entire Chiefs roster--not just their offense--went down in Week 2. Imagine how Kolb would have looked if Fitz had gone down in his second game this year.

Cassell is a league-average quarterback. No better than the David Garrards, Carson Palmers, Matt Hasselbacks, Chad Hennes, Mark Sanchezes, and Andy Daltons that are scattered all over the league.

But I'd rather have any of those guys than Kevin Kolb, who has yet to provide ammunition from even his most adoring fans from before the trade that he has value as anything other than a cautionary tale based on his play last year. It'd difficult to make an argument that Kolb is better than anyone beside Blaine Gabbert based on Kolb's play last year.

The fact that the Cards have been unable in three seasons to locate and acquire a league-average quarterback should be pretty damning on the coaching staff and the scouting staff.

Keep that in mind next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as you try and convince yourselves that Steve Keim knows what he's doing drafting Michael Adams with the 13th pick in the NFL draft.

Just a few months ago I can recall a thread where Kolb's backers saying they HOPE he could turn into something like Cassel. I agree with the idea that Cassel is a developed player, but Kolb likely is too, and at this point in his career he still would need to develop more in order to become an average player, and that ignores health.

Cassel would not be an ideal QB, he wouldnt be a long term answer but he is better and more durable than what we've got now. However, Kansas City wouldnt even bother to discuss a the idea of swap. Kolb's value as a trade asset is non-existent. Were the Cards to pursue Cassel KC would probably want something like a 2nd or 3rd and wouldnt want to take Kolb along with it unless Arizona was willing to take on an equally wasteful contract from KC.

I would take any NFL starter for Kolb. Maybe even a backup. We would be closing the barn door after the cows ran out.

Every team in the NFL knows about Kolbs injuries he reported. They also know his history with every team he has played for. I doubt there would be any takers for Kolb at any level unless he came in at a minimum NFL pay on a one year deal. If he fails here he is out of the NFL>

I was against the Kevin Kolb acquistion from the git-go from a cost standpoint. But we are stuck with the guy for better or worse for at least the 2012 season. How I feel about a hypothetical trade which has no chance of happening is totally irrelevant. The Cardinals QB situation is what it is. The best hope for SOME improvement at the position is upgrading the offensive line IMO. Hopefully that happens next week.

That's always a good idea to upgrade the offensive line but the Cards best hope for improvement at the QB position is John Skelton who just turned 24.

It's not much but its better than banking on a guy who will be 28 before the season starts and has really shown nothing in 5 years in the NFL to make people believe he's Super Bowl QB material.
