Would you take Mallett in round 2?

Cincy is much more likely.

Personally I wouldn't touch him. He's not a good fit for an NFL offense. Can't move (the guy was outrun by most of the OLine prospects), lengthy release and often forces into traffic after staring down 1 receiver. The last thing could possibly be fixed. The other 2 not likely

He's a prima donna too. He'd be a terrible pick for our team.

This is already one of the greatest drafts in Cardinals history because it WASN'T US taking Jake Locker in the top 10.

I wouldn't have used a fricking fourth round pick on Locker.

I've never understood the fascination with him. Some had him as the #1 pick last year if he went out. Did anyone actually watch any game film of him at all? Anyone who has been a fan of the Pac10 could tell you the guy was nothing special

He's a mediocre prospect that somehow gets brought up because of his measurables. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane

I think he will bust, but in the second round, he has enough upside to take the chance on. IF it were the third round, he'd be a no brainer pick.

I advocate QB here, either Kaep or Mallet, since Ponder got reached for hard.

His release is graded the best in the draft. The ball rockets out.

I think we have just as pressing of a need at OLB... so I would make my picks based on where they are on the Cardinal's board.

My less informed board is something like...

1. Ayers
2. Reed
3. Mallett
4. (Notre Dame TE - just forgot his name)
5. Bowers (so much potential value).

I think Quinn or Mallet go first today in a trade with New England.

I had Locker in my "Kaep" class, I think he can be good, but no first round good, I was floored with that pick.

No, he hasn't shown any maturity in the process leading up to the draft, and he allready had plenty of question marks about character issues.

We need some pass rushers. OL help. DL help. LB help.

If he's still there and no good trade down offer was available, I'd take him.

Whoa whoa whoa. I want you to affirm this. OLB is as big of a need on this team as QB?

No way, dont take him. I dont care if hes good or not, a guy like him cannot be the face of your franchise. The one thing i notice is that i know hes a pot head. A few years ago i used to smoke weed everyday and i know a pothead when i see one. forget him..

Oh wow! Now that we have this incredibly damning evidence, we'd better stay away from Mallett!

Wouldn't it be funny if I took such a silly statement seriously? :D

I need a link for confirmation please. He has the strongest arm by far but I've heard he has a bit of a long wind up.

I've heard the guys on NFL Network describe him as having the best release in the draft myself. They raved about his workout (aside from his 40 time) and how fast the ball flies out of his hand.

Warner had nothing but good things to say about Malletts abilities recently--while criticizing Newton & Locker.

I won't search for where I saw this because it is a moot point for me. Mallet is a ticking bomb IMWO so I don't draft him until the 6th rd.

OK, most NFL teams would disagree with you as he won't make it to the end of the 2nd round.

I'd take a chance on Mallette before Bowers, although I'm not advocating for either.

The Cards can protect themselves against Malette's alleged extracurricular activities in the contract; can't do a damn thing, however, with a degenerative knee problem.

All the talk is that we are focused on winning the NFC West next year. Therefore, no QBs in the first 3 rounds. Take players that will contribute this season. We can still get 2 good LBs and a good OL out of this draft. But not if we take a QB in the 2nd.

I don't think you take him just because he's available and has upside. As frustrated with the QB situation as I am, I think I'd rather see another need addressed--unless they love him and have enough confidence to plan on starting him right away. I don't really want to go through a season like last, with a Bulger/Skelton/Mallett carwash.

Gosselin on the radio here today. Saying the Patriots are looking for a 2012 number one for the 33rd pick and that Dalton is the hot commodity.

Would anyone trade next year's #1 to move up to get Dalton? Listening to Goose it sounds like none of the top 3 QBs will be around when we pick. Dalton, Mallet and Special K. Somebody trades up and takes Dalton, probably Washington. Buffalo and Cincy then take the other two.

Gosselin said Dalton is a day one starter.

Isn't Dalton's arm questionable?

No, mostly because we HAVE to take an OLB. We're painted into a corner (literally, a PP7 corner ;)).
Nice.

No on Mallett. Third round if he fell that far but I doubt it.

Get an OLB in the second.

He could be, but he won't win in his first yr. His ceiling isn't that high. He's got a good head and can manage games. The Frogs didn't play the best competition, week in and out, and had a massive talent advantage in their conference.
