If the T-Mac deal breaks down would you guys be willing to trade down
the draft by making a deal with Portland?

This was on today's insider...

13. PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS
The Blazers are trying to package this pick, along with the one they have apparently acquired from New Jersey (No. 22) in an effort to move up in the draft.

With the 13th pick we will be picking from the likes of Kirk Snyder, Jameer Nelson, Sergey Monya, JR Smith, Robert Swift, Luke Jackson, Rafael Araujo, etc.

And we could send the 22nd pick to SA to fulfill the Barbosa trade

None of the guys at the 13th pick may look attractive but I think fulfilling the
Barbosa trade will give us more flexibility in a future

This is just one of the many possibilities that could happen this summer

If Josh Smith was really slipping I would gladly trade #7 for #14 and #16 and pick Nelson and Smith or Nelson and Jackson or Nelson and JR Smith or something like that.

It would be a possibility but I am very happy at #7. We should definately get one of these 4. Livingston, Gordon, Iguodala or Josh Smith since Deng, Okafor and Howard are almost guaranteed to go in the top 6.

We should just be hoping that Biedrins, Pavel, Harris and/or Childress crack the top6 somehow so we can chose between some of the other guys.

I’d generally leave this sort of thing up to the talent scouts. I don’t like the idea of trading down, unless the scouts feel that there’s nobody on the board at #7 who’s worth taking that high.

As for the Barbosa deal, it does not give us the right to substitute any arbitrary pick for the one we actually owe. If there’s a player available at #22 that the Spurs really like, they might be willing to take it and call it square, but I wouldn’t count on it.

beerz just a question where to you think you can play kmart? amare is the power forward marion is a better small forward then kmart is. and at 6'8", 6'10 in shoes and somewhere around 230 lbs. cant play center. so where to you think we should play him at?

oh i know lets sign him for a max contact and trade marion so that we have someone who shows us how good we had it when was here marion. kmart isnt even as productive as marion but now people want to sign him to a max contract to get him away from the nets so that he can play a position that we dont need help at.

If we do trade down I think we should consider taking Al Jefferson with the pick. The kid is already 6-10 and might grow a little and he already has the weight to play Center for us in couple of years. What do yo guys think?

Jefferson COULD be a fine player, but he not more highly rated for a reason - he is not very good yet. Late enough in the first round he is worth the risk, but even at 13 he would be a reach.

If we wanted someone later in the draft we could probably just buy picks by taking on a player from those teams or so.

Of course that would be absolutely contrary to the trade we did with Utah.
