Some Cardinals on mend in preparation for Cowboys
Associated Press

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The bulk of the wounded Arizona Cardinals took part in at least a portion of the team's practice on Thursday.

Getting a chance to play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday was added incentive.

"I definitely want to play, man," cornerback Rod Hood said. "You just know this is going to be a big game for us, and it's a big game for them."

Hood went out with a groin injury in the first half of last Sunday's 41-17 victory over Buffalo.

Six injured Arizona players took part in limited practice. Among them was safety Adrian Wilson, a game-time decision a week ago because of a hamstring injury.

Wilson played only on third downs. He leveled Buffalo quarterback Trent Edwards on the third play of the game, knocking him from the game for good with a concussion.

"He's better than he was last week," coach Ken Whisenhunt said of Wilson. "Obviously he's a little sore from having played in the game. But I think that he'll do more tomorrow than he did last week. We feel a lot better about where he is right now."

Even wide receiver Anquan Boldin was on hand to watch the practice and "did a little workout," Whisenehunt said. Boldin is recovering from surgery to repair a sinus fracture, the result of a vicious hit from New York Jets safety Eric Smith.

Smith was fined $50,000 and suspended for one game for the helmet-to-helmet hit.

Whisenhunt said he would not rule out Boldin playing on Sunday.

"I've learned that you can't rule 'Q' out of anything. That's been my experience with him," Whisenhunt said. "We'll see how he feels tomorrow and Saturday. Obviously he's recovering quickly.

Boldin and tight end Ben Patrick (knee) were the only injured Cardinals who did not practice on Thursday.

Those who were limited in practice were Hood, Wilson, defensive end Bertrand Berry (groin injury), linebacker Clark Haggans (groin), tight end Jerame Tuman (hamstring) and cornerback Eric Green (groin).

Tight end Leonard Pope, who has been bothered by an ankle injury, took part in the entire practice.

The team has a bye after Sunday's game, but that will not affect any decisions on whether players will go in the Dallas game.

"I don't think you can do that," Whisenhunt said. "Every game you have to play to win. I don't think you can look at it that way. If you do that you might miss an opportunity that will give you a chance to win a big game."

Big difference from the days when a DL would sit out with a sprained pinky finger!

Yep. We used to be the wussiest team in the league in terms of coming back from injury. No one EVER came back earlier than projected. Boldin started the change of that mindset. And, when Warner played a week after his arm was almost snapped in two, it seemed the mindset change was complete.

Yup perfectly stated aj.

It actually sounded in that article that Whisenhunt was giving a strong Hint that Q may actually play this week too. I definitely hope that CB's can play or we are in trouble!

We definitely need Hood and Green healthy and available for this game. Berry would be a nice luxury to have, as we didnt expect him back until the Panthers game. If he doesnt play, we need Haggans back.

Also, it would suck to not have Patrick. He has been more efficient than Pope at TE.
