This is why you wait 2-3 years before trying to fire everyone in the front office for not taking a guy.

HB torn one in each knee as well. According to Bucky & others he's done. What is different?

The difference is HB's game is dependent on quick cuts and used to be based on his explosiveness. And you're making it seem like HB isn't done... when it's clear he is.

Watson was showing he was already developing into a solid pocket passer... but even saying that, it will be a concern.

Way more?

Please provide the stats.
There have been 43 torn ACL's thus far in the season since preseason started - might actually be camp, but would need to check.

Dunno if that's more at this point in the season than before or how it compares, but it sure seems like a lot.

I understood HB tore more than the ACL.
A lot of times there's also some meniscus damage.

there were 24 acl's just by the end of august this season...I dont remember ever seeing this many.
acl injuries usually happen when the upper bodyweight shifts and the hips dont set up properly...causes an angle in the femur which then puts lateral pressure on the knee... I still think light contact in practice would help prevent this kind of thing...apparently there are also specific calisthenics that can help as well...by adding strength and flexibility to specific small muscle groups that would help the core position properly when the body weight shifts..

With non contact injuries, I think equipment and surface changes should be studied, rather than worrying about a lack of hitting in practice.

Do you think we as fans are seeing even remotely close the same Badger 2 years later that we did before knee injury #2?

You tell me?

Isn't Watson's game based more on running though?

I'm not doubting HB isn't the same. I just don't see Watson being the same either. How many TD's has he scored this year with his feet? His game is based on him being able to take off running. He's going to have to be strictly a pocket passer from now on. IMO of course.

A Humble Suggestion:

Require that QB's be required to wear knee braces.

In fact, require that all players wear protective equipment tailored to their position.

No doubt the added equipment would slow the game down a bit, but it would (a) cut down on injuries and (b) slow down everyone equally.

There are too many injuries - many of them career-ending. Maybe if this policy was adopted from Pee Wee leagues on-up, the decline in kids participating in tackle football would reverse itself.

That's an average of 55/yr and there have been 43 at the midway point.

In 2013 the NFL reported 57, down from 63 in 2012

I think some of the reason it's getting the attention this year is because there are several big name players going down with the injury.

Yes. Big names and big injuries. Seems like there are more season-ending injuries than things that take a guy out for a few weeks.

I have no data on it, so it could be entirely wrong.

I would not say that about him. He's a legit passer. He's been nailing throws into tight windows. Running is an option if he can't find an open guy, but he never runs just to run. IMO.
