I had no idea it completely smashed the record and my expectations.
Of course this is a pointless post if most people realized how much the number is.
Barry Bonds 232 Walks.
TWO HUNDRED AND FREAKING THIRTY TWO walks.
OMG.
He must be a great recruiting tool for ASU (awesome)...what other program can boast of Reggie Jackson and Barry Bonds as their two top players? Heck yeah!
Anyways, I remember the walks record was around 186, and I think he broke it in 2003, and from that I thought he broke his own record last year...but I didn't know it was 232 walks.
That is unbelievable. He still put up 45 hr's in spite of this.
Sorry if it's old news, (which it is), but geez I didn't know he was walked THAT many times. Thats about 1.4 walks a game. That alone would give him a .300-.400 on base percentage.
I guess I'm saying, wow, this sort of stat needs to be mentioned more so ignorant fools like myself in this particular case can really appreciate what's been occuring. ....and here's to him being 0 fer against the D-backs!
