Didn't somebody say the same thing about Vegas and, I think it was, the Ravens game?

Bobcat, maybe?

It would just be terrific after the NBA scandal to find out that Vegas odds makers were setting lines to influence betting to one side instead of equally on both teams and then fixing the games.

Now that I think about it, the majority of the Cardinals played like they were in on a fix in Tampa. :D

Welcome Caroline.

I will have a Chesapeake Chicken Sandwich with six hot wings, fries and a six-pack of Coors Light. Thanks.

Most of us had that game marked as a big L. I don't remember us turning ball over in that one and our special teams also helped.

The steelers are 10 times the team Detroit is.

I had that game down as a W.

And I already said that if we protect the ball we should win going away. Detroit's defense is BAD. They are great at turning the other team over though...protect it and we should be able to move all over the field.

I have this game solidly booked as a win.

We beat the spread on the Ravens game IIRC. Wasn't it over 10?

Who isn't.

She's distracting. I think she stays forever.

That's what you said about Linda (not forever, years)

That's not even Scarlett at her best but WOW!

I was lying about Linda.

I am in super-duper-serious lust with Scarlett though. Plus, she's my new Big Reds avatar and I'll ride her until the Cards win a Super Bowl.

of course, i meant to say that.

I agree. Problem is we are not protecting the ball. If we had been, we probably would have been 6-2 ourselves.

I believe if they started Rattay and used him for the base offense, and Warner for the hurry up,we would have a chance to win.If Warner plays the whole game i have no hope.

Isn't that their job? They want people to bet on the loser.

Not really. Their job is to set the line such that the money bet is evenly spread across both the teams. The ultimate goal for them is to be sure that 50% of the money is bet on one team and the other 50% bet on the other team. If they reach this goal, the casino will generate a profit around 4-5% on the amount bet (otherwise call "juice" in local parlance). When a line shifts drastically, it means that one side is being bet on heavily and they are trying to get more money on the other side.

Not always.

I always am baffled by games like this. Vegas has us the favorites in a game most of the 'pros' are picking the Lions to upset. Lions have the better record and the better offense... yes, we are at home, but something about that line strikes me as false.

Now, I used to coach baseball with a guy who helped set the lines for the games. He would never give me inside information on anything, and he would always tell me never to bet on games, because they knew more about the games than anyone else... and they set the lines where they were for a reason. The reason in this game seems to scream, "Bet on the Lions and win big!" which means thats what the Vegas insiders want people to do.

That bodes very well for the Cardinals. Alright, I'm off to the game... I hope my spidey-sense is right on this one.
