PHOENIX SUNS OPEN TRAINING CAMP IN VALLEY
Media Day set for Oct. 2
PHOENIX - The Phoenix Suns will turn back the clock and will start training camp at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, aka “The Madhouse on McDowell”, the Suns’ home for their first 24 seasons (1968-92).
The Suns begin training camp on two different dates this season, due to an amendment to the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Players with three years and less experience report on Monday, Sept. 29 and begin two-a-day workouts on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The veterans will report on Thursday, Oct. 2 and will start workouts on Friday, Oct. 3, and will practice twice daily until Monday, Oct. 6.
The last NBA game played at Veterans Memorial Coliseum was a 153-151 overtime loss May 11, 1992 in Game 4 against Portland in the second round of the playoffs.
The 2003-04 Suns open their preseason schedule at home as they take on the Eastern Conference champion New Jersey Nets on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at AWA.
Full and partial season ticket packages, beginning as low as $158, are on sale now by calling (602) 379-SUNS and single-game tickets will go on sale in late-September, based on availability.
