According to Yahoo Sports' Jason Cole, "word around the league" is that Ken Whisenhunt (Cardinals), Lovie Smith (Bears), and Jim Schwartz (Lions) are all expected to be safe entering the offseason.

The Cardinals have at least entertained the thought of replacing Whisenhunt internally with DC Ray Horton, but may instead keep Whiz and change upper-management roles, with VP of Player Personnel Steve Keim replacing GM Rod Graves. It's still not out of the question that Smith could be axed by GM Phil Emery if the Bears miss the playoffs. In Detroit, Schwartz signed a multiyear contract extension last June. He's going to get at least one more season.

I know I'm in the minority but I think that's the right move. I hope it's true.

I am not ready to fire Whiz yet. Nobody could win with what we have at QB and oline. Changes need to be make in other areas for sure.

One more year with Whiz.

Selecting those QBs and developing them was his responsibility. Why do you expect him to suddenly become adept at this?

I'm not a Whiz supporter, but his choice at Kolb (albeit when Skelton was hurt) was doing well until he got hurt.......and we've been decimated with RB injuries this season.

Replacing Graves... with a guy who Graves brought in and has been part of this debacle for 6 years... just doesn't instill a lot of confidence in me.

after 3 years of relative crap, the organization needs FRESH eyes.

anyone with any of amount of foresight would have known we'd be decimated with RB injuries this season. Going into the season with a blind eye toward that inevitability is as much as reason for firing Wiz as is his complete inability to judge the QB position.

I would be disappointed if this happens as I feel that both Graves and Whis need to be replaced.

If we retain Wiz and we win, it will be an act of genius.

If we retain Wiz and we continue to bomb, it will be an act of abject stupidity.

Ditto Rod Graves.

Gotta let the process play itself out.

Yep a move like this is just shuffling deck chairs on a sinking ship. The front office needs a major overhaul and if Whis is kept he needs to have his power stripped.

I still think Whis can judge QB talent--he knows they suck--but he seriously overestimates his and Millers ability to coach up bad QB's. And the scheme really isn't that suck-friendly.

Michael B chose Whiz.

Graves wanted Sherman.

Sigh. Way to be cheap as usual Cards.

Three seasons in a row with 6 or more game losing streak with this season bringing a 9 game losing streak and one of the worst losses in franchise history. Plus his continuing inability to evalulate or develop a quarterback. Yet Whiz keeps his job.

If this were a place like New York or Philly, Whiz would be out of here.

what does any of that have to do with replacing Graves with Keim as opposed to getting fresh eyes?

This article is pure speculation just like the reports from ESPN and NFL.com that say he's out. We won't know until Monday.

The fact that everyone wants Horton to replace Whiz, who was hand picked by Whiz as an assistant.

Heh, nice catch.

Only way that keeping Whiz makes sense is under the following conditions:

1. He loses final say in personnel

2. Graves is gone

3. a REAL offensive coordinator is brought in

4. Horton remains DC. We can't afford to have him leave because there are NOT ample replacements available to come in and run his defense. NONE.
