31. Arizona Cardinals: Shawn Nelson, TE, Southern Miss
The Cardinals got absolutely no production from the tight end position this season and lack an athlete who can create plays in the passing attack. Nelson is an imposing 6-5 target with legit 4.5 speed and knows how to separate down the field. He would be dynamic in the Cards’ passing attack, and after being a solid third-round prospect prior to the Senior Bowl, he’s poised to start moving up draft boards. With a strong combine, he should be right in the mix as a low first-round pick.

63. Arizona Cardinals: Connor Barwin, DE/TE Cincinnati
Defensive end Bertrand Berry is scheduled for free agency, so an edge rusher needs to be brought in. Plus, if the Cardinals want to go for a running back in the first round, Barwin has experience at both defensive end and tight and could double on both sides of the ball.

Thoughts?

Dont know a thing about these guys.. But if i had my way, id probably pick up Clint Sintim or Alex Mack in the first.

Connor Barwin would be the ideal 2nd rounder. He could fill in at so many spots for us as an all around athlete - DE/LB/TE/FB/H-back/Special Teamer.

As for Nelson he will skyrocket up boards if he continues his rise from the Senior Bowl Practices. Really good reciever, and although a slight frame Mike Tice at the Senior Bowl was talking about him and stated that he is a willing blocker and that he would be great at it if he gained more strength and repetitions at it. Has a great shot at being the 2nd TE taken with Coffman being injured and all. But I am sure there would be much better prospects though to be had - especially with Larry English, Vonte Davis, Sean Smith, Clint Sintim, heck even trio of RB's in McCoy, Green and Brown.

We dont really need a receiving TE though.

I think Patrick does a very good job at that, he was just injured.

A solid blocking TE does not need to be drafted in the first 2 rounds.

I highly doubt we draft a tight end in the 1st round or draft a 4-3 DE. This mock draft really sucks. And Giants drafting Knowshon Moreno at #29? LOL.

That TE is nice, but I have different plans for our 1st rounder. :) TE is far in the back of my priority list.

YUCK on the 2nd round pick, Barwin, if we want a huge effort guy we can get that obligatory hoo rah player later in the draft, a second round pick, this guys PR guy is fabulous.

Nelson would be a great pick for us in the second round though I believe after the senior bowl we could seem him shoot up boards. In all honesty, if he has a great showing I could see him moving past Pettigrew just because he has such superior athleticism to push down the field and teams seem to take that over blocking prowess at TE.

I believe that Pettigrew will fall after the combine while Nelson will shoot up. Here is to taking Pettigrew at 31 if all the pass rushers are off the board.

In nfldraftcountdown.com's 2 Round Mock Draft it has us taking...

RB Knowshon Moreno (I really doubt he would fall that far but I would love the pick if it happens!) Also Larry English or Clint Sintim would be good choices IMO

In the 2nd round it has us taking...
C Eric Wood out of Louisville http://www.draftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/c/Eric-Wood.php

But IMO I would like to get Patrick Chung out of Oregon if he were to fall that far (would most likely take Francisco's spot as the backup Safety and ST's)

Agreed on Chung.

he'll give Rolle some competition as well to keep his ass honest.

I wouldn't say that Chung would challenge Rolle because he is a SS and is very questionable in coverage. I really like what Chung brings to the table as a SS but I would never project him to a FS. He would be great depth for us in the secondary however, and would be a steal if he lasted until the second round.

i think Moreno could easily slide. If he gets by SD at 16 then i think he's there at 31. Alot of mocks have him going to Philly, i think Philly wants a big physical runner like Wells instead of Moreno.

I'd be shocked if we don't pick a LB in the first two rounds. If we end up switching to a 3-4, we will need to bolster our LB core. Unlike other positions where you can wait til the later rounds (TE, OL and even RB), it seems to be tougher IMO to find a playmaking LB in rounds 5 or 6.
