Yankees place DH Berkman on 15-day DL (AP)

Designated hitter Lance Berkman has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the New York Yankees because of a sprained right ankle. The move was made before Thursday's series finale against Detroit and is retroactive to Aug. 16, the day after Berkman rolled his ankle while stumbling across first base as he tried to beat a throw in Kansas City.
