Gabbert cost himself alot of money in this game. He really needs to cut down on the mental mistakes the rest of the year. Everybody has a bad game. For his sake it better be his last bad game of the year. I think we need to draft a QB in the top ten this year no matter what. Let him sit for half a season and then start him for 15.

Gabbert will have to win out the rest of the year to get the fans and ownership on his side now. One good thing is he will be much cheaper to sign now. 3 to 5 mil per year should do it.

It simply boils down to money imo. This team has to address lots of issues starting with grabbing a QBOF early I the draft. BG should be retained as he is cheaper than Palmer who sadly is done, and simply better than Stanton. Gabbert can be kept at a minimum cost and you can save the money from CP and DS. Get a young QB fix the damn OL and get some receivers, and with DJ back the offense can be solid. A new coaching staff could work wonders on this team imo.

That's because the Browns are the Browns. They traded back from Wentz and Watson in b2b years. I don't think they will do it again.

This. There are 8 teams ahead of us right now in draft order, and 4 teams tied with us. Of those 8, there are only 3 teams guaranteed not to take a QB. And the 4 teams tied with us are likely to have QB need too. But you'd better pray that the Bears keep losing and the rest of the teams get better if you want any chance of getting a surefire QB. Gotta have a dance partner to trade up.

Our odds aren't looking good.

Anyways, Gabbert's clearly not the guy, but he's good enough to be a backup for a while. Don't overpay or panic.

I kind of hope that Palmer hangs it up after this and we go with Gabbert as the bridge and draft Mayfield in the first. That would be my ideal scenario.

1. Mayfield
2. OL/WR
3. WR/OL
3. CB

The slide early when it sure looked like a dive would have gotten a first down was disturbing

In the Jaguars game he dove head first to get a 1st down. I remember saying 'they better teach him to slide or he'll get knocked out." I'm guessing the coaches did.

IIRC, Palmer's first 8 games here were ugly. He was a turnover machine until he got comfortable in BA's system. I'd like to see BG7 vs. the Titans and see how he does before we anoint him QBOF.

Gabbert's two interceptions were just bad, but give credit where it is due. He is very mobile, and escapes collapsing pressure like no quarterback we've seen around here. The play where he slid a little short should by all rights have been a sack 8 yards behind where he ended up. And as noted, let's remember that he's had the gift of facing the top two defenses in the league in the last two weeks.

then look what seattle did to Carson Wentz.... I loved Wentz in the draft and still do... but he sure looked like a second year player against seattle this week

that brought a tear to my eye... not really a "Jake" video,... but a great cardinal video....I miss lots of those guys...
Jake was pure all american sandlot football

Jake was a master of the 'limbo dance' move, bending his body to avoid a sack like he was made of rubber or something. I never saw a guy elude a sack like him and he was able to connect with WRs when he would scramble... I wish we had WRs like Frank Sanders now who actually would come back out of their route and help their QB out

Not only that Jake was a tough sob and rarely got injured even taking some brutal hits over the years! Still one of my favorite Cards of all time!

He was tough, I remember one time he had to flip his ribs back into place while still wearing a brace. He was not our best QB but he is still one of my favorite Cardinals and own his rookie jersey with pride :)

Gabbert was pretty good against Jax and not good against the Rams. I like a laugh as much as the next guy, so I love reading the knee jerk reactions to each game. But the smart thing, at least to me, is to wait until after the next four games, and come to an informed decision. And if we (the team) decide we need to take a QB in the first round, I'm sure that three or four of the top six will be available when Arizona picks. Hopefully, they'll take one who will be successful.
