Yeah, I know... It's a dry heat.

Worry not, the Bucs are used to heat. But that seems to be the only thing in our favor. Current line shows you guys by a touchdown. Sounds about right. We haven't fared well against the NFC West in recent years, and has BA ever gone 0-2 at home? Should be an entertaining game!

The Bucs have the potential to beat the crap out of us if we play like we did last week and leave our current #2 corner out there... not to mention Winston running for huge chunks of yardage if we do not get back to tackling properly in space

Winston looks like Daunte Culpepper reincarnate when he was throwing bombs to Randy Moss and Cris Carter. If we don't get our secondary shored up and ready to go, it could be a long day for us.

Welcome to the board.

But that's what makes early season games so exciting! The Cardinals have ONE current game to study, as do the Bucs. BA is a hell of a coach. DK is untested, as far as being HC. What better way to develop a reputation than by beating the best teams/coaches?

As a long time Cardinals fan, screw excitement and moral victories... losing sucks :)

What heat? The game's indoors, temp will be 75f.

Hard to believe Cards are -6.5 favorites. If I were betting this game, I'd take Tampa on the money line. Winston is on his game, Cards D and special teams most definitely are not. Hoping we don't start 0-2, but it's a real possibility.

The game plan from the Buccaneers this week: let Jameis throw to whoever #26 is guarding. The score will be 63-0 in no time.

I expect this to be a tough, but fun game to watch. Though, used to letdowns with the Bucs, I so wouldn't be surprised if the Cardinals destroyed us

In all reality, though, it's gonna take some real hustle for the Bucs to stay in this game. Cards ranked no lower than what, 10th in all the power polls? I think we play an inspired game, but unless everyone on the Cards defense forgets to tie their shoes, you guys got this one.

power polls are worthless.

Yes, last year we were one of the most dominant teams in the league but this is a whole new year. Last week our D looks really bad and the offense was just ok. If we can adjust to last year form it should be a good contest with us on top but if we play like last week, you might skunk us.

I won't lie to you, I hope we do win... That might scare the hell out of some Panther fans. I'm looking at Tampa as a solid Wild-Card contender, but I would love to see them fight for the division to the end.

Yeah, I'd love to see that, too. So... What IS amiss with the Cards? I mean, yeah, I know it was N.E. (Man, do I hate that team) but I figured that BA had them figured out, especially minus Brady. I know your preseason didn't go as well as expected.

We barely played our starters in pre-season & it took them pretty much the entire 1st half (& the 1st series of the 2nd half) to get the rust off. New England has a system of getting the ball out quickly on short routes so the pass rush can't get to the QB & they abused our rookie CB that missed a coverage change signal (to go from Zone to Man-to-Man). Our tackling sucked and 5 yd plays turned into 15+ yard gains... especially on 3rd downs. Our backup RG committed a stupid holding penalty that made our final FG attempt harder & then our rookie long snapper snapped the ball low, our crappy punter couldn't handle it cleanly & placed it in the wrong spot & our kicker shanked it left... otherwise we'd be talking about a Cardinals victory. We played really poorly & still almost pulled off the win.

Looking on to Tampa Bay, it's obvious that Winston & Mike Evans have a lot of talent, but I'm not seeing much beyond them that scares me. Doug Martin averaged 3.2 yds/carry against Atlanta & our run defense has been really good the last few years. Vincent Jackson has great height for a WR, but he only had 2 catches for 18 yards last week. TB seems to move the ball around to a lot of receivers with 8 different guys making catches last week & Doug Martin can catch the ball out of the backfield. Winston can be a rushing threat, but he seems to like being more of a pocket passer & holds onto the ball a lot longer than New England QBs do so I'm expecting our pass rush to get more pressure this week. Winston has a really strong arm & good touch on his passes, but I don't think he has the best collection of receivers around him (or TEs either).

Anything else I'm missing about Tampa's offense?

About the only thing I can tell you is DON'T let Winston get into a comfortable rhythm. I'm hoping that we start out with a quick offense to try and rattle you guys. Stop that, and I think the game is yours.

That's exactly what Matthieu and Peterson were saying in the interviews - don't let him get too comfortable, don't let hime have too much time because he trusts his arms on the long shots. Get him to worry about what is around him and keep moving him off his mark.

This should be a good game, I'm interested in watching Mike Smith's defense develop over the season. Hopefully tomorrow is a good learning experience for them, because you can learn a lot out of a loss ;)

Winston is a really smart and tough QB though. Not as easy as just giving him no time in the pocket because he can run(and will) and also will take the hit to allow Martin/Sims to get open. Expect to see a couple near sacks turn into positive or big plays.
