I would take him over Randle El in a second. His age be damned!

Rams | Bruce may stick after all
Sun, 5 Mar 2006 20:35:19 -0800

ESPN's John Clayton reports the St. Louis Rams may not release WR Isaac Bruce after all due to the recent extension of the waiver deadline. Bruce was a cap casualty under the previous deadline, but the Rams may choose to remove his name from that list and continue to use the extra time to work out a new contract with him.

Yeah, another player that should be cut and on the FA market now gets another 3 days to get his contract restructured.

Another team that gets a third shot at getting it right.

He's not the same Bruce as 99 and we have greater needs anyway.

When the Cards played them the second game of the season, I got a good feeling about Bruce teaming up with Warner again.

WHy would anyone want this guy? He isnt going to want to be a #3 which he would clearly be here. If were going to go out and spend money on a 3 he better be able to suit up on special teams as well IMO.

I think another team that has greater specific WR needs will get him. I'd rather have Randle-El for our purposes.

Totally disagree. What I think he'll see is this:

1. Chance to prolong his career by NOT being counted on as the number one or two reciever. Seems to me he was fine going from number one to number two in St. Louis (as Holt emerged to number one);
2. Chance to hook up with Warner for a couple of more years;
3. Chance to team with Boldin and Fitz to form "The Greatest Show on Turf" part deux.

Wasnt he causing the fuss the last couple of years becuase he wasnt getting enough looks and made a fuss about his contract after Holt got a new contract.

Or was that the other way around with Holt being the complainer. I know it was one of them.

But the rams had a very solid O-line and a dominating RB. We don't have either of those things.

We also have too many holes on STs to not have our 3rd WR also being a Return Man.

I'd just as soon want to see McCoy given a chance to win the 3rd WR/PR job.

This team need a burner in the #3 spot. We already have two PB Caliber WR's that run great routes and have great hands. Bruce is not a guy that is going to stretch the field for you anymore. Who says he wants to be with Kurt again?

He isnt going to play on special teams which our 3rd WR needs to do as well. It would be a wasted use of cap space.

It was probably Holt. Bruce tends to handle things with class, Holt tends to whine and speak out until he gets his way. That's Big Lame for you.

The two players don't fill identical needs (Randle El would be our return guy). Also - El is relatively young. Bruce has 12 years off the tread.

But the key determining force in considering Bruce could very well be Kurt Warner - who obviously knows Isaac well. Don't discount the value of QB-receiver chemistry at crunch time.

the rumor is that he will resign with the rams. this was only a salary cap move. if the cba deal gets done then more than likely bruce will resign with the rams.
