Warner is a Free Agent. He has every right to see what his market value is.

Also the Cardinals were smart not to bow to the demands of his agent. It's crazy to bid against yourself. They offered what they felt was fair. They have a backup plan if someone decides to throw a ton of cash at Warner.

"I don't know that he has a choice," Warner's agent, Mark Bartelstein, said.

No choice? Right.

It's a classic agent maneuver, putting the screws to the Cardinals, who are under pressure to keep a Super Bowl team intact.

He knows everybody loves Warner and that the Cardinals would get ripped if they don't pay.

But this is no the time for that stuff.

Not when the people who ultimately make all of those millions available to pro athletes - fans - are hurting so badly.

Not when people are losing their jobs and homes.

Not when businesses large and small are going under.

I still don't understand. Don't we need to at least save $ for other core players so we can keep them in tact? And i think keeping the core is what Warner wants and he is asking for huge pay raise. I understand he wants market value but this is way too high. He seems to represent he is about team but yet it's all about him.

Good points by Young. Not even the NFL is immune from a bad economy. Heck, the NBA just borrowed $175 million to aid their poorer franchises.

In the next few years, I believe a lot of people who would normally attend NFL games are going to decide that it is much more in the best interests of themselves and their families to stay home and watch the games on TV.

Kudos to the Cardinals for sticking to their guns.
