I’ve always thought this. Free agency fills an immediate need with experience. The draft adds youth, hope and cap savings. Anything you get of the draft in year one is a bonus.Free agency is for 2025; the draft is for 2027.
Yes, but also the depth ILB has been constant roster movement positionYou mean OLB or edge right Bach?
Feel like Barnes and Pappoe have consistently been there?Yes, but also the depth ILB has been constant roster movement position
It’s not a terrible plan to come back with those two, Robinson, and Collier. If you believed in them last year, what has really changed? My fear is Monti opts to run it back with Jones and Nichols at DT forgoing other options. That would be a significant mistake.

Stills is still on the roster. Maybe snag another interior player in the middle rounds.especially if we add a second round rook
ya know, they move those guys around so much I have a hard time remembering which is DT or DE...or occasionally NT...I like Dante, but I would like to see us get a more natural penetrator to line up next to himStills is still on the roster. Maybe snag another interior player in the middle rounds.
Jones and Nichols currently hold 2 of the top 9 cap hits on the team in 2025. I imagine they will both get significant playing time along with Robinson. My fear is Monti opts to run it back with Jones and Nichols at DT forgoing other options. That would be a significant mistake.
You want that to be Robinson. Stills is listed at 286 lbs; he’s probably a 3- or 5-technique. He’s just fine at it in a rotation.ya know, they move those guys around so much I have a hard time remembering which is DT or DE...or occasionally NT...I like Dante, but I would like to see us get a more natural penetrator to line up next to him
Going #3 to NY unless the Browns take him or another team trades up.
Yeah I like Deone Walker out of Kentucky..big boy at 6'6" and 348..we might find him on the board in the second, he had a bit of a down year this year...but pulled 8 sacks last season. You want that to be Robinson. Nichols is 313. I think you want competition at the nose going into next year. Maybe you draft that.
I am still amazed he's going to get picked so high. Did people not watch his bowl game? Dink and dunk totally ineffective. His 2 TD's came after being down 27-0 he had 2 picks. The first TD was an absolute prayer he threw up for grabs the LB misjudged it and Hunter caught it and scored.
I'll be very surprised if Shedeur ends up a good NFL QB.
Unfortunately, their play on the field changed my mind really quick. They were outplayed by Dante Stills at a fraction of the cost. It’s not a terrible plan to come back with those two, Robinson, and Collier. If you believed in them last year, what has really changed?
That is freaking scary given their level of production this year.Jones and Nichols currently hold 2 of the top 9 cap hits on the team in 2025. I imagine they will both get significant playing time along with Robinson.
they both showed improvement after a few games. Unfortunately they were promptly injured. but I suspect it takes some time to adjust to our defensive system. I expect them to be better next season...not world beaters mind you,...but better than they were in the first few games this seasonThat is freaking scary given their level of production this year.
You can nitpick most QB’s that get drafted highly but once the workouts and throwing sessions happen teams start to get that itch. Nobody had McCarthy or Nix being 1st rounders before the CFB season ended.
We should draft TVondre Sweat.
I agree- lot of red flags surrounding Shadeur. Glad it won’t be us drafting him, I don’t think he will translate well to the nfl.I saw Nix that high but with McCarthy as I said before he played in such a run heavy offense people just assumed if Harbaugh trusted him he'd have let him throw more. I was mystified at him going in round 1 but if you saw his preseason highlights he has a VERY good arm so I now see it. He had the size, the arm and the athletic ability and well coached in college.
Shadeur on the other hand has the size, doesn't have the arm, not a great athlete, and I really question how good his college coaching was.
I saw some scouting thing on him where the guy was talking about how good Shadeur is at reading defenses and going through his reads and I thought ok maybe that's it but since then I've seen a bunch say the exact opposite. One of the reasons he got sacked so much was that he holds the ball way too long. He has good timing but struggles to throw the deeper routes and that he has a really bad habit of throwing late over the middle that he's gotten away with in college but won't in the NFL. The TD to Hunter in the bowl game was basically the same play Kyler threw for a picksix in the first Seattle game, rolling right threw it late, the difference is in the NFL a CB playing safety jumped it picked it and scored, in college a LB, who's actually a DE dropping into coverage mistimed his jump the ball went over him and Hunter caught it and scored
There's also been a bunch of stuff about his teammates not liking him, when you keep reading stuff now about how well liked he is you think either the initial stuff was wrong, or more likely IMO his team realized it was a problem and started a PR campaign to pump him up,
Very weak QB class this year but teams are desperate and will still use high picks on them.I agree- lot of red flags surrounding Shadeur. Glad it won’t be us drafting him, I don’t think he will translate well to the nfl.
