If I need a good laugh, I will try to imagine this board after round 3 if this is what the Cards really did

utter meltdown
Dude, I generally do not get over dramatic... but I would flip if Monti submitted that draft.

The corner in the first...only if every good front 7 guy was gone...and the top 3 tackles...and the top 2 guards

Safety in the 2nd.... no, nope, under zero circumstances

TE in the third? ... only if he was one of the 2 projected to go top 20 and somehow the league forgot he was available ...I ain't against bringing in a guy who can force Vokolek off the roster...or whoever TE3 is these days...but in the third dude would have to be a stud because we are pretty stacked at the position.

4th round OT...future guard? I'm always up for linemen but the guys who have starter potential at OT are usually gone before round 3...

I have heard about "character concerns" for this kid for years as I follow A&M and SEC football more closely than the NFL. However hard I have looked, like I just did once again, I can't find one story, one comment from a coach, what these concerns are about. I am not saying it is completely BS, but it's weird in this day and age to hear of something like that and then find nothing.

From what I have seen of the kid? He balls out and plays really hard. He has serious talent. Take him at #16 and he is immediately our best lineman as far as pure talent and upside. I saw a Baldinger video about Shemar Stewart today and yes, he is actually similar to Nolen in skills and motor. But Nolen is better. Just a little bigger and stronger than Stewart. Both both would be good picks especially in round 2 if one drops that far. Should move up at that point IMO.

But from what I know of Monti I bet we are one of those teams.

Grant would also be a terrific pick at 16. Nolen or Grant, even though they bring something different to the table

Yeah,...shame.. heard whispers about "character concerns" but I never heard what they were supposed to be.
Like I say below you can look all over but you can't find anything. At least I can't.

all I find is mysterious statements that is flaws traveled with him from school to school...but nobody says what it is
Specifics don’t really leak unless it’s legal stuff. It’s usually stuff like “the coaches I spoke with didn’t go to bat for him” type verbiage.

The bright side I guess....is the reports I see says it will cause him to drop out of the top 15 picks....which puts us in the catbird seat

A couple of issues; supposedly he and his family went to Tennessee for a recruiting visit during the Covid blackout when visits were prohibited. He transferred high schools 3 times. Also moved from Texas A&M to Miss. Nolen said this was all caused by coaching changes. Both in high school and at Texas A&M he allegedly did not hang with the best character groups. He also supposedly had some effort issues. All of the high school issues indicated a common lack of maturity concern, which most often goes away and this was not a concern at Miss. None of this takes away from his tremendous NFL potential. I’m sure if the Cards are considering him, they have or will interview him. At this point his past doesn’t scare me enough to red flag him. It’s possible some teams will.

The moving from one college to another means nothing now. These days, with NIL, kids staying at one school four years will be rarer than those that do.

Yeah, it's all that vague stuff.

I was just answering what the concerns were because I have people I can ask. Obviously they wouldn’t stop me but with closely rated players this will tip some people’s scales.

We have drafted enough CBs and S in the past 2 drafts, agree we needs guys in the trenches.
Mason Taylor in the 3rd I would be happy with, but I dont think he falls out of the 2nd round, I think some mocks have him in the first. He is a complete TE, the son of Jason Taylor. He would give us the best TE tandem in the NFL.

They do background checks. NFL people know exactly what is going on, but they aren't going to get into specifics because it's better for them if another team drafts the guy earlier than they would (or at all).
They talk to everybody who will comment. On potential first round they have even been known to send guys to talk to friends and townspeople.
