I wouldn’t be shocked, maybe disappointed.

I really want the Cardinals to get the guys they are targeting even it requires draft capital.

That rooms good now. Sweat and Browning are legit starters. Zaven is very good vs the run. They were high on Beej in camp last year before injury and XT performed well as a DPR in limited snaps. And all of them have at least 2 years locked in.

It's hard to see how a draft pick contributes significantly. If they take one high they are losing out on a position of greater need, and if they draft one lower how does he make the roster?

I'm edging towards being more surprised if they draft one than if they don't.

A good job on this exercise. A couple thoughts.

Fehoko and Quez Watkins may be the vet WRs. Agree they will look to draft one.

I think Vokolek is more of a lock than you do. Doesn't seem like there would be a reason to waste draft capital or FA dollars on another TE to fill that backup, blocking TE role.

OL will definitely get some adds.

Disagree they would cut Collier after just signing him. I know the contract isn't huge, but I feel they would just carry an extra spot if they add a player from the draft.

I think Thomas is on the 53 bubble regardless. Depends on special teams usage.

Agree on Pappoe being on the bubble.

Looks like Fehoko is a lock. Has $1.25m guaranteed.

That's interesting because those top 2 guys are both my favorite non 1st round Edge guys. Film matches the stats.

Since you enjoy parsing data...it might be interesting to cross reference that list with RAS...then with actual results...ie, sacks/ qb hits

Browning is a significant injury risk as a starter -- he's likely a third-down specialist with Zaven in on the first two downs.

If the Cards have an opportunity to get even another Beej-level prospect in the first two days of the draft, there's nothing on the roster that should make them hesitate.

Why? How it it relevant? If you're picking at 16 what does depth matter to your pick? A good edge is no different to a good OT, CB or any other position.

Depth is an argument for taking those positions later.

this doesn't make much sense - certain positions get paid far more than others - it's like how a knife's quality is more important than a spoon's quality - it's why you pay more for knives - have you ever seen someone with a spoon in their pocket

We had the worse DL in the league last year. Two veteran signings doesn’t eliminate it as a massive need going forward. I’m all for doubling up on our first two picks.

To be fair, two fairly starting-level IDLs and a first-round pick barely played. I don't expect any of them to be Chris Jones, but it would raise the baseline above Roy Lopez and Khyris Tonga -- both replacement-level players.

I was told Topez and Longa played quite well

Replacing Zack Pascal. Big body for blocking in 12 and 13.

Adds speed on the outside which Pascal didn’t have.

Don’t know much about him, but he’s 5th/6th WR with a very specific role on the team.

Jones and Nicola have a history of being very solid as 2nd string in a rotation. If the 1st string is improved and pushes them down the chart to where they probably should be, I expect an improvement

I 100% understand the sentiment of drafting a trench player over a CB.

But I’m not just draft ANY trench player over someone like a Will Johnson.

I’m drafting Will Johnson over someone like Tyler Booker or Mykel Williams.

Take BPA regardless of position. As much as I have beat the drum for a dominant level DT for years I am not locked into any one position. I think DT is so deep in this draft that BPA at #16 is very likely a DT.

There are also really good DT's available into the second round as well, which means you can draft a potential elite corner in round one and a DT with starting potential in the second. Worth considering.

If Will Johnson is there at #16 he would be a terrific pick. I doubt he will be but I would have no problem with a pick like that.
