100% - haven’t we learned our lesson yet? Give me a bonified DT or edge rusher- not a “could be” hybrid ILB

Honestly at 16 I am seeing pierce jr going our way in a lot of mocks. Initially I was against it because of the character issue reports- but maybe in a supportive environment/locker room under a no bull coach like Gannon- he could be amazing. The question has never been his on field production or talent. Maybe the guy is just a dick. To be honest, I care more about my edge rusher being a dominant threat / nightmare for the QB with a killer instinct than winning the who is the biggest care bear award. I’d be ok with it if he is the best player available at 16
There are no bonified players in the draft. They all have question marks. Just because you miss on a guy at a certain position shouldn't preclude you from trying that strategy again if you think he can be a difference maker. Should we not take another DT because Wendell Bryant didn't work out?
I think it's funny that some are saying the Steelers should pass on a QB at 21 because the Kenny Pickett selection didn't work out. If the think Jaxon Dart can be their starter, you take him. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't mean it was the wrong pick and preclude them from taking a QB, if deemed worthy, the next time.

Met Jack Sawyer last night at my golf course. Nice guy and very big dude. I asked him if the Cardinals had talked to him. He just smiled.
I wonder if he was named because his parent's favorite TV show was Lost...

It’s a pretty dismal history of teams that have drafted a first round ILB and that individual working out long term. Not just the cardinals either. Off ball linebackers are just not good value and GMs that think they can draft them to work in another position/outsmart everyone else are historically wrong. Some rare exceptions sure - but you are gambling way against the odds.

You could argue that the entire draft is a gamble - but I’d rather take that risk at a premium position which not only has a higher impact for this team on the field, but also financially makes a bigger impact for us to compete (look at contracts for resigned ILB vs resigned edge/tackle positions)

that philosophy may change with teams starting to run more. Nothing clamps down the run game like a solid MIKE...Drafting them in round one gets you that fifth year option, even if its high...it keeps you from having to pay an ILB or MIKE that fancy Pass Rusher money, it also gives you leverage in negotiations if you re sign the guy after year three

I just want football players who’ll go through their second contract with the team like a McBride. I’m really not focused on the position nor round taken.

Now is the worst of times. All the scouting is done. More free agent signings seem remote. We’ve talked through all the trade options, drilled down on all the players and debated team strategy. Literally now little is left to say that’s original. All we can do is wait. I haven’t lost interest, I just feel like I have nothing additional to offer.

You could do some positional breakdowns, or compare groups vs. last year! :)

I’ve been reading up on Jihaad Campbell. Am I wrong to think he profiles a lot like Micah Parsons as a draft prospect?
Similar size and athletic grades on NFL.com.
Parsons was a slightly higher rated prospect but they look to have very similar profiles.
Getting a Micah Parsons type player at 16 wouldn’t be a bad thing.

EDIT: This was run for DE as I didn't see an option to compare to EDGE as a position.

We have top 30 visits with so many DL players I can’t help but to think we’re either going there first or second round

Or both
