I would really like to see the Cards bring back Karlos Dansby and Kerry Rhodes to shore up the defense. If they are serious about winning now than that would make me a believer. Trading for Carson Palmer shows they are at least making an effort to win now.

I don't like picking the 3rd best player at a position in the first 7 picks. We passed on the #1 RB in the draft to reach for Levi Brown. I would rather take Warmack, who may be the best player in the draft.

If we could fit Dansby and Rhodes in we would be looking pretty good.

Just draft 2xOLine, 2xTE, speed receiver, pass rusher.

We would only be short a pass rusher at OLB and the defense would be complete. If we drafted what you suggest we would be looking pretty darn good on offense as well. I would also like to take Eddie Lacy in the second round if he is there just because I don't know how good Mendenhall is anymore and Ryan Williams can't be trusted to stay healthy at this point. If we give Palmer a good running game I think he can be a good QB for us.

I dont know why everyone is moving Lane Johnson ahead of Warmack. the upgrade Warmack makes over colledge is far more than the upgrade of Lane Johnson over Levi. Lane is the 3rd best tackle in the draft, Warmack has potential to be the best guard prospect in a decade. Makes no sense to me...

It's just pure hype cause no way does Johnson's play suggest that he's better than warmack. Like you said he at Brest the 3rd best tackle in this draft and warmack is considered the best prospect at his position in the last 15 years.

1 Warmack
2 Jarvis Jones
3 Luke Joeckel
4 Dion Jordan
5 Jonathan Cooper
6 Star Lotulelei
7 Dee Milliner

I think Warmack and Cooper are better prospects than Fischer and Johnson

It would offend me greatly to find out that Lane Johnson is anywhere near our top 7. Talk about a workout versus performance debate. He was a 2nd to 3rd rounder in early February.

Not that it's ridiculous. He goes no later than 11 to SD right at this moment. Many have him going inside the top 10. He was never projected as a 3rd rounder. He's started for the two years he's been a Sooner at tackle.

Three pundits have us taking him @7 in their mocks right now. He's a long term investment at OT, but I get what Warmack can bring now and start immediately. I wouldn't have a problem with either really. Next yr. Levi could be at RT or G when Johnson is beefed up just a bit more. Or you can go with Warmack and hope the coaches can make Levi a better PP than he's showed up till now.

He wasn't even on the radar when the college season ended. He was considered the 5 or 6th best tackle when the season ended

Joeckel
Lewan
Mathews
Fischer

Were all ahead of him all the hype around him is about what might be one day

Johnson is considered an instant starter at LT (that is LT, not just OT). And he is considered to have the greatest upside of the top 3 OTs with his long arms and quick feet.

I have come to like him very much as our pick. But would love to see Warmack opening up holes in the second level for our RBs also. I will like either one better than us pulling another Floyd out of the hat.

My final points on the Lane Johnson subject......

It will never be considered exciting to draft the 3rd best player at a particular position in the first seven picks of the draft unless it is a good QB year.

Lewan and Matthews staying in school was the best thing that ever happened to him.

As far as the Oklahoma LT point, did Oklahoma have some great line that I didn't know about? My recurring vision of the Oklahoma line was the K-State sack, & fumble into the endzone for a TD. IIRC that happened to the LT. Was that Johnson that got beat on that play?

If the 3rd best player at a position is still better than any other player you want, you take him.

But that's no the case with Johnson. I heard it from his own mouth that he has limited, very limited, experience playing with his hand in the dirt. He said he's working on that daily to try and gain explosion. I'm not saying he won't eventaully be good at it, but I seriously question his ability in the run game and as a drive blocker. It seems like we often forget about the run blocking aspect when it comes to OT's.

Watching Fisher's game, he struggles as a run blocker as well. Arians said he want to improve the run game. Levi at LT and drafting Warmack would be an awfully nice start.

For everyone whos board starts like this:

1.Joeckle
2.Fisher
3. Lane Johnson
.
.

You would seriously take the 3rd best option at a single position at #7 overall? Keeping in mind that while taking a G in the top 10 isnt fun, said G is a "once in a generation talent", you still take a "Raw but with some upside" former TE transition guy? Said LT is would probably also be the 3rd best LT in last years draft too. Meaning if you combined the 2 drafts, youd take the 5th best LT in the past 2 years.....#7 overall....

Thank goodness forums exist and not more job openings to be GMs.

I agree, but that has not happened, and will never happen. And wont happen this year because Lane Johnson is not the BPA at 7 if Joeckle and Fisher are gone.

Jay Cutler was the third best quarterback in the 2006 NFL draft. I would have taken him over Leinart then and now.

source: Wikipedia
"Cutler was expected to be a high draft pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, and was ranked by many experts as the third-best quarterback prospect, after Matt Leinart of USC and Vince Young of Texas. ....
Cutler, as predicted by most, became the third quarterback chosen, after Young (3rd overall) and Leinart (10th)."
